The Rams' penultimate game of 2023 sees a seventh win in eight league games, as Wigan are edged out at the DW. Chris is joined by Ollie Wright (@derbycountyblog) to assess the latest impressive result on the road - including a stressful last 20 minutes, before pondering the future or Eiran Cashin and heralding the new contract of superb fullback Ryan Nyambe.
Ollie also tells Chris about the inspiration for his latest book, 'Coming Home', based on personal reflections of Derby's recent administration period, and we both wonder whether any team in the existence of football will 'beat' Derby's 11 point Premier League record. Happy Christmas!

In this shortened version of our November Patreon interview, Chris, Richard, and a group of our Patreon listeners sat down on Zoom with former Rams player, coach and manager Gary Rowett to recall his two spells at the Baseball Ground and Pride Park.
Rowett is best remembered as the manager in 2017-18 who took Derby to the playoff semi-finals, before defeat over two legs to Fulham. There were, however, many important moments in Rowett's managerial stint - the transformation of Matej Vydra into the Championship's best striker, our most recent victory over Nottingham Forest (!), and ofcourse, his acrimonious departure to Stoke City in the summer of 2018.
Rowett also enjoyed a three-year playing spell at Jim Smith's Derby between 1995 and 1998, helping the Rams gain promotion into the Premiership and establishing himself as a consistent top flight full back. He told SBW about the best memories from his playing days, and the words from Joe Royle which served as motivation throughout his career.

Fiiiiive goooold wins! Chris, Tom and Phil look back on a superb 3-0 away win at Leyton Orient which made it 13 scored and just one conceded in our last five, as Derby hit their traditional December purple patch. Phil also shares his incredible experience of watching the Orient game from the balcony of a rented AirBnB, complete with funny looks and the odd bit of abuse from the locals.
The panel also give some serious chat on the Rams' Christmas fancy dress effort, before winding up the pod with the long-awaited (by noone) return of 'Win, Lose or Schnoor'.

The temperatures are getting chilly... but Warne's Rams are starting to cook! Chris, Anton and Phil look back on back to back wins which extended Derby's winning streak to four in League One, sending Paul Warne's side into the top six for the first time this season.
There's welcome praise - and a possible new chant - for first touch goalscoring hero Tyreece John-Jules, along with analysis of Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and his fantastic form... are we becoming too reliant on NML to win games?
The SBW panel also look at the state of the division, with Derby sat in the same position but 4 points better off than this time last year. With the general consensus that League One is weaker in 23/24, do Derby have a greater chance of getting promoted?
Plus, Phil expains his AirBnB set-up for his upcoming trip to Leyton Orient.

Days after we thought Warne's Rams had turned a corner with their impressive win over Barnsley, Derby embarrass themselves in the FA Cup, losing 3-1 at home to League Two Crewe Alexandra, in our first FA Cup First Round exit in nearly 30 years.
Chris, Cutch and Anton attempt to decipher Derby's ongoing inconsistency, but heap praise on Kane Wilson and James Collins for their recent performances.

Recorded live from the away end, join Richard Cutcher and Tom Martin for an audio adventure in deepest Cheshire, as Warne's Rams travel to Crewe Alexandra in the first round of the FA Cup. For Derby, a chance to gain confidence, score goals, put in a mood-boosting away performance and get ourselves in the hat for round two.
There's impressive buildings, chicken, six hours on a train, a late comeback, and plenty to ponder as Derby scrape a replay... just.

Our latest guest for our October Patreon special is a former Ram with a unique footballing story.
Mark O'Brien had his whole career ahead of him when he broke into the Derby County team as a teenager in 2009, but the Irish centre back's life was turned upside down when he was diagnosed with a life-threatening heart condition which could later force him to retire from football aged just 27.
Despite two major heart surgeries and a string of knee and cruciate issues, 'O.B.' still clocked up more than 200 professional appearances for Derby, Luton and later Newport County, where his first ever professional goal kept the Welsh side in the football league on the final day in 2017.
Mark told his story to Chris and Tom - and a couple of our SBW Patrons - and spoke openly about his own mortality, 'never giving up', and the influence and Nigel Clough and Steve McClaren on his career.

Paul Warne manages an almighty 'must win' victory, as a routine 2-0 triumph over a limited Exeter City eases the pressure on his job and lessens the toxicity around Pride Park temporarily.
Chris, Richard and Anton deliver an on-the-whistle reaction to Derby's 6th league win of the campaign and hail important goals for Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Conor Washington, before asking if the latest victory really taught us much about the Rams' on-off promotion chances.
There's also a wider discussion on Paul Warne's future, whether a different manager could produce better results from the same squad and, crucially, whether SBW is 'Warne In', or 'Warne Out'.

A relatively comfortable 2-1 away win in the Papa John's EFL Trophy makes it seven games unbeaten for Derby County... so why does it feel like our season is still to get going? Chris is joined by Ollie Wright (@derbycountyblog) and debutant Phil Hile to assess the Blackpool win, Cheltenham draw, and Notts County victory, where the 'Sibley Enigma' is raised again - will he ever nail down a long term starting place under Paul Warne?
The also talk the return of Didzy, ex-Rams who got bad receptions, and the chaotic decision by Birmingham City to appoint Wayne Rooney as manager.

As Derby trudge to another winless - if slightly more encouraging - result at Pride Park, Chris, Cutch and Anton ask why Derby are still finding it such hard going at home compared to our very strong start away. We give praise to the returning Tom Barkhuizen, but question why the Rams are struggling in front of goal given the number of crosses being thrown in the box.
Where are we on Derby's promotion chances nearly 10 games into the league season? With two contrasting but challenging away games coming up, the SBW team discuss our season ambitions. Also, Cutch tells about a bizarre dream he had, and there's a triumphant return for 'Who Ram I?'
