In Numbers 35 we have the Lord’s instructions about the cities of the Levites in verses 1-8, then we have instructions about cities of refuge in verses 9-34.

In Luke 20 we are reading about things that happened in Holy Week. This is the week between Jesus’ triumphal entry and His crucifixion and resurrection. In Luke 20:1-8 we have the authority of Jesus challenged. In verses 9-18 we have the parable of the wicked talents. In verses 19-26 we have talk about paying taxes to Caesar. In verses 27-40 the Sadducees ask about the resurrection (they did not believe in the resurrection). In verses 41-47 we have more conversation with the Sadducees and Jesus’ warnings.

In Numbers 34 we have the boundaries of the land (verses 1-15), then we have the list of tribal chiefs (verses 16-29)

In Luke 19 Jesus is wrapping up His time in Samaria and His road to Jerusalem. Recall that in Luke 9:51-19:27 Jesus is in Samaria on His way to Jerusalem. In Luke’s Gospel We have 10 parables that Jesus will tell in Samaria and these parables are not in the other Gospels. In Luke 19:1-10 we have the account of Jesus and Zacchaeus while Jesus passed through Jericho. In verses 11-27 we have the parable of the Ten Minas. In verses 28-40 we have the triumphal entry. In verses 41-44 Jesus weeks over Jerusalem. In verses 45-48 Jesus cleanses the temple.

In Numbers 33 we have Moses recounting Israel’s journeys. I like how the ESV Study Bible shares that this is Moses’ testimony of what God had done for Israel during his lifetime. These sections are summarizing what we have read in certain placed in Exodus.

In Luke 18 Jesus teaches in more parables. We have the parable of the persistent widow in verses 1-8. Then in verses 9- 14 we have the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector. In verses 15-17 Jesus invites the children. In verses 18-30 we have the account of the rich young ruler (not a parable). In verses 31-34 Jesus foretells His death a third time. In verses 35-43 Jesus heals a blind beggar.

In Numbers 32 we have the account of Reuben and Gad settling in Gilead. The ESV Study Bible shares: The conquest of the kings of Transjordan—Sihon and Og—was described in ch. 21. The high hills (2,500 feet [762 m]) of Transjordan made for excellent cattle grazing, so it must have seemed a good idea for some of the Israelites to settle there. The tribes of Reuben and Gad put their bid in first. However, since Transjordan south of the Sea of Galilee is outside the Promised Land, Moses is shocked by the request. He accuses the tribes of making the same mistake as the spies by rejecting God’s promises (32:6–15). The tribes of Reuben and Gad insist that they fully support the conquest of Canaan: their fighting men will head the invasion force and not return to Transjordan until Canaan is won (vv. 16–27). Moses accepts this compromise (vv. 28–32). The subsequent settlement of Reuben and Gad is summarized. Part of the tribe of Manasseh also settled in northern Transjordan.

In Luke 17:1-4 Jesus talks about temptations to sin. In verse 5-6 we have teachings about increasing faith. In verses 7-10 we have a parable about the unworthy servant. In verses 11-29 Jesus cleanses 10 lepers. In verses 20-37 Jesus teaches about the coming Kingdom.

In Numbers 31 the whole chapter is about vengeance on Midian. The ESV Study Bible shares: The Midianites were a group of nomadic tribes who inhabited the deserts on the fringes of Canaan. They were associated with the Ishmaelites, Amalekites, and Moabites. It is the Moabite Midianites who are the target here. Instigated by Balaam (v. 16), they had seduced the Israelites into worshiping Baal at Peor (ch. 25), so a brief but fierce military campaign is launched against them, for persuading Israelites to worship other gods is a capital offense, according to Deuteronomy 13. As the last campaign headed by Moses (Num. 31:1–2), this one sets precedents for the coming invasion of Canaan.

In Luke 16 we have more teaching on parables. We have the parable of the unrighteous steward in verses 1-13. Then, we have teaching about law and the kingdom of God in verses 14-17. Then, verse 18 is about divorce and remarriage. In verses 19-31 we have the parable of the rich man and Lazarus.
