The Mentors host Ric Brutacao calls this his “Christmas Special edition” show, but it really isn’t about Christmas per se. Instead, it’s about the behavior of human beings during the month-long season at the end of the year where we mostly—even in the workplace and boardrooms—tend to show more than typical concern and love for our fellow man, gather in fellowship and celebration, and bear gifts for all, including those who may be poor, suffering, or feel forgotten. And this year end “spirit” even happens among those who are not practicing Christians. So, what’s going on here anyway, why do human behavior and decisions in the workplace seem to change for the better during the end of the year— and why can’t it last all year… or can it? Ric’s guest, Monsignor John Urell, by virtue of his vocation as a Catholic priest of more than 40 years and a seasoned pastor, is a long-time student of human behavior in its myriad of complexities, personalities, habits and circumstances. He is quick to see familiar patterns of behavior, yet also perceptive in recognizing and addressing the uniqueness of each individual seeking advice or guidance. Over the years, Msgr, Urell has become Ric’s long-time spiritual advisor, pastor and close friend, which brings an openness and candor to their on-air discussion. You’ll be challenged in your thinking about various levels of human interaction — including in the workplace — and about such topics as forgiveness, healing, hope, redemption, risk management, the Natural Law, humans behaving badly (or not), the deepest source of sanity, and the life-changing power of daily meditation. The discussion speaks to men and women of all faiths and to those no specified faith and, like all our episodes, it’s guaranteed to challenge YOUR thinking about life and work… ENJOY!
In the upcoming episode of The Mentors, radio host Tom Loarie talks with two top labor and employment lawyers—Michael Caples and David Wolf—regarding employment law and liability in the emerging hyper-litigious workplace, including workplace allegations of sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, abusive workplace behavior and discrimination. This show will be posted as soon as it is aired. Meanwhile, read the press release here.
The Mentors Radio show host Ric Brutocao explores healthcare sharing options head-on, in a brutally frank discussion with Joel Noble, director of Public Policy at Samaritan Ministries International. Listeners will hear all angles explored and discussed, and get answers to most, if not all, of their questions about healthcare expense-sharing alternatives. It’s healthcare insurance decision-time, but for those who must foot all or part of insurance premiums themselves, the cost options are staggering! The Affordable Care Act (also known as Obamacare) offers little relief, with its promised and widely promoted benefits falling fall short of the actual benefits. Obamacare’s 2017 and 2018 premium costs rose sharply, even at the lowest option level. There are a few federal-approved healthcare and medical expense-sharing organizations that provide a cost-saving and viable alternative solution for many small business owners, entrepreneurs, independent contractors, and their families. This is an extremely informative and high-energy episode, well worth tuning in…
If you own or plan to launch a family business, then planning for growth and succession are easy to put off to think about later, in the fury of working the business—nonstop paddling the boat and trimming the sails to get it launched and steady. But taking eyes off the destination, including all that’s needed to ensure safe arrival and sustenance at the destination, is essential to success. The Mentors Radio host Ric Brutocao knows this well. That’s why he talks with Tim Psomas, chairman emeritus of family-founded and run Psomas Engineering Services, one of the top engineering firms in the U.S. In this episode you’ll Psomas talks about keys to successful growth and he talks about problem-solving. Psomas says if you have a problem, ask your competitor. It might sound counter-intuitive and even suicidal for a company to do this, but Psomas reveals why it can work and why it can even be a smart thing to do. Excellent show…Enjoy!

This week on The Mentors Radio Show host John Phillips interviews Chris Smith, founder of The Campfire Effect (TM), about his innovative, common sense system for radical business growth and success…. Even better, Smith has fun on the journey. Nothing painful here! Just pure common sense, applied systematically. In this interview, listeners will learn the critical importance—and the power—of what Smith describes as “telling your story well.” Attracting and engaging customers, marketing, innovating, rapid growth—all depend on a clear concept of “who” your business is, who you are. And not just you, the founder, but “you” the team and the business. Some of the practical systems Smith talks about include: the forces of storytelling, the true purpose of networking, the stages of brand loyalty, and how these translate into “massive and sustainable growth for your business.” Not to be missed!
