Welcome to today's Market Outlook.

Unfortunately, we are still witnessing a Tale of Two Markets. A handful of large-cap tech stocks that are heavily weighted in the S&P 500 and NASDAQ 100 are dominating the headlines, while the rest of the market remains on shaky ground.

Bond yields fell sharply again yesterday, but even this couldn't inspire the broader market. The Dow and the TSX are still under sell signals.

In the not-so-distant future, this divergence between a few stocks and the rest of the market will likely be resolved. The first indication of this resolution will be a new buy signal in the VIX.

Today, we are looking for a close above 13.42 on the VIX to trigger a new daily buy signal. We might actually see this, as stock index futures are trading down across the board in the premarket on this Friday morning.

Yesterday, the major indices were lifted by Apple, while the rest of the market declined.

It's challenging to stay optimistic at the moment.

The TSX and the Dow are still on sell signals.

We will remain short-term bullish on the market as long as the VIX does not close above 13.58.

Expect increased volatility this afternoon after 2:30 PM.

Subject: Tuesday Morning Market Outlook - June 11, 2024

Good morning everyone, and welcome to Tuesday morning's Market Outlook.

In the premarket today, stock index futures are trading below fair value, indicating we might see some selling at the open.

Today marks the beginning of the two-day Fed meeting, and we expect the markets to remain relatively calm until the announcement at 2 PM on Wednesday.

On Monday, we saw some money flow back into commodities, but it wasn't enough to start a new trend for stocks.

We're keeping an eye on Nvidia to see if it can break through $125. If it does, our next price target is $137.50.

Apple pulled back on Monday after announcing its new AI initiative, which seems to be a classic "buy the rumor, sell the news" scenario. We're anticipating a new daily sell signal for Apple at the close today.

The TSX and the Dow are still on daily sell signals, while the S&P 500 and the NASDAQ 100, both of which include Nvidia, made new closing highs on Monday.

The VIX closed higher on Monday, indicating that options traders are getting a bit nervous.

We will remain short-term bullish on the market as long as the VIX does not close above 13.64.

Gold and gold stocks closed higher on Thursday, but we're seeing a significant reversal in the price of gold in the premarket this Friday morning.

I recommend holding off on any buy signals in this sector from Thursday's trading action and waiting for a confirmation signal.
