  • Episode 006: The Lighthouse of Île-aux-Noirs
A sacred burial ground. A church built on desecration. A lighthouse that collects its keepers.

Île-aux-Noirs sits in the St. Lawrence River layered in uneasy history: a Mohawk sacred burial site, then a French colonial church raised on that ground, then a waystation of the Underground Railroad — and finally, a lighthouse whose keepers kept vanishing into the fog. October twenty-third, eighteen ninety-seven: keeper Thomas Beaumont climbed the tower for his final night on duty. What the beam swept across the water that night, the logbook never recorded. But the island remembers.

  • Episode 004: Nha-a-itk - The Real Ogopogo
A demon demanding blood. A mascot smiling for tourists. The lake remembers the difference.

For thousands of years, the Syilx people of the Okanagan Valley spoke of Nha-a-itk — a water creature so feared that no traveler crossed the lake without first making an offering. Then the settlers came, and turned the demon into Ogopogo: a cute, plush, postcard-friendly mascot. But the Syilx never forgot what the lake actually holds. The offerings stopped. The sightings didn't. And the water keeps its own ledger.

  • Episode 018: Memphre — The Lake Monster of Lake Memphremagog
Thirty-seven years on the water. One shadow she could never explain.

Lake Memphremagog, Quebec — two hundred feet deep in places, stretching across the border into Vermont, cold and black as glass at four thirty in the morning. Barbara Malloy has fished it for thirty-seven years and knows every shoal. But the old-timers speak of something in the deepest section — the part they call the abyss. They have a name for it: Memphre. Long, undulating, too fast for a fish, too deliberate for debris. Scientists, monks, and fishermen have all reported it. The lake keeps its secrets — but sometimes, in the pre-dawn stillness, it lets one surface.

  • Episode 017: The Haunted Railroads of Canada
Every spike driven by a man the country refused to see. The trains still carry them.

Fraser Canyon, British Columbia, eighteen seventy-four. In the pre-dawn dark, Chinese railway workers swung their hammers for a dollar a day while their white counterparts earned three — blasting the Canadian Pacific Railway through granite, buried afterward in unmarked graves beside the tracks. Then the whistle came: long, mournful, from a canyon where no train was scheduled to pass. To this day, passengers on the mountain sections report phantom workers in the mist, and railway employees tell of ghost trains running on no schedule. The railway stitched Canada together. The men who built it were never meant to be remembered. They disagree.

  • Episode 019: The Gold Rush Ghosts of the Cariboo
Ten thousand men chased gold into the mountains. The mountains kept some of them.

Barkerville, British Columbia — in the eighteen sixties, the richest and deadliest gold rush town on earth. Prospectors froze, starved, and murdered for their claims in the frozen Cariboo. According to the legends, some of them never left. William Barker heard the digging first: pickaxes striking stone at midnight, in a creek frozen solid, in weather no living man would work. Park rangers and backcountry guides still report strange lights moving through the ruins, and the sound of pickaxes echoing from abandoned claims. The gold ran out a century ago. The digging never stopped.

Thousands of prospectors froze, starved, and died chasing fortune in the frozen Cariboo mountains. According to the legends, some of them never left.

From Dutch Bill Dietz's legendary strike to the great fire that erased Barkerville overnight, this is the story of what happens when ambition meets mortality—and the dream survives the dreamer.

Episode 017: The Haunted Railroads of Canada

    SUMMARY:
In 1871, British Columbia joined Confederation on one condition: a transcontinental railway connecting them to the rest of Canada. The Canadian Pacific Railway would take fourteen years to build, threading steel through some of the most hostile terrain on Earth — and costing an estimated 600 to 1,000 Chinese workers their lives. Today, the rails still run through the Fraser Canyon, past mass graves buried beneath the ballast, where the dead are said to walk alongside the trains. This is the story of Canada's haunted railroads.

  • Episode 016: The Franklin Expedition: Ghost Ships in the Ice
Two ships. One hundred twenty-nine men. The ice never gave all of them back.

Eighteen forty-five. HMS Erebus and HMS Terror sailed into the Arctic carrying the finest expedition Britain had ever assembled — and sailed straight into one of history's darkest mysteries. The Franklin Expedition was devoured by the ice off King William Island: starvation, scurvy, lead poisoning, and finally, cannibalism in the endless winter. The Inuit told of gaunt white men dragging boats across the frozen sea, of camps of the dead, of ships locked in ice that groaned like something alive. The ice speaks in King William Island's endless winter — and what it says about those final months is worse than any ghost story.

  • Episode 014: The Haida Gwaii Connection: Where Amelia Earhart Crashed?
The most famous disappearance in aviation. A trail that points somewhere impossible.

For more than eight decades, the disappearance of Amelia Earhart has hovered between history and myth. The official story ends somewhere over the Pacific. But a strange thread of evidence — artifacts, photographs, islander testimony — points northwest, toward the mist-shrouded islands of Haida Gwaii, off the coast of British Columbia. The Haida have their own stories about what fell from the sky in that era, and what the islands kept. If the trail is real, the world's most famous missing aviator may have spent her last hours very far from where anyone has searched.
