Before I enrolled at Nashville Software School, I attended college to pursue a Medical Degree. Once I realized that career path was not right for me, I was drawn to Software Development. I always had an interest in web development and had done some studying on my own, however; a whole new world of opportunities was available to me through this program. One of my favorite aspects of software development is that there is always something new to learn and the possibilities for growth are endless.

I first discovered computer programming at Middle Tennessee State University, where I studied and later earned a degree in journalism and a minor in computer science. In my CS classes I realized that programming involved the same kind of problem solving and fact-finding that attracted me to journalism. I also realized that I had a natural attraction and aptitude for it. After a few years pursuing a journalism career, I decided to make a change and return to software development.

Recently when I learned about the Full Stack Web Development programs offered at the Nashville Software School, I decided that I needed to attend. After years of touring the country playing drums, I felt a need to stay in place and find a way to exercise my love of learning, and creatively solving problems, which lead me to the world of programming. I am team driven developer focusing on HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React with a backend focus of C# and .NET.

Working on teams where my work has a direct positive impact is something that I have always valued. During my time in the United States Air Force, I worked as a software developer, solving problems on government and military applications using HTML, CSS, JAVA, and JavaScript. Upon leaving the military, I decided to expand my knowledge in development and learn more current and full stack technologies through Nashville Software School. My goal is to contribute to applications that positively impact and support users health and wellness.
