Mr. Vargas is a DOD teacher, coach, father, husband, son, and friend. Mr. Vargas was my teacher in high school at SHAPE. He quickly became one of my favorite teachers and people, even though I am not a big fan of anything science or STEM. Today, we talk about how a decision he made at the age of 23 changed his life forever. And how because of it, he has gotten the opportunity to live many different lives, and now he is living his best life as a father and advocate for the next generation of STEM students. Mrs. Workman, better known as Momma Workman is a mother, military wife, daughter, sister, friend, and veteran. I met my Momma Workman when I was in high school. She was the cool mom around campus, and everyone loves her. She always knew how to brighten your mood and motivate you to go after what you want out of life. In this episode, she does not disappoint. We get to know the ins and outs of life for Momma Workman. She shares her time as a teen and how she became a single mother and then a military wife. During our time together at SHAPE, Momma Workman got diagnosed with breast cancer. She shares her struggles and triumphs during that difficult time. She now continues to give back to her community in ways that can only describe her as a beautiful soul. This is her story as a parent of dandelions.

Leon is a military brat, brother, son, and friend. Leon and I met in elementary school and not too long after that he moved. He reminded me that ran into each other while in college. It is fun how you think you’ll never see someone again or reconnect and circumstances just make it happen. Leon grew up moving constantly and never really getting the opportunity to settle down until he moved to Washington D.C. Even though he moved a lot he didn’t allow it to change who was at the core. Instead he used each move to learn more about the man he wanted to be. Through new experiences and being open to what life has for him. Leon has now found himself in a place where he continue to be molded into become the man and one day father he wants to be. This is his story as a Dandelion.

Scott is a military brat, brother, son, and friend. Scott and I met in high school he was my AVID tutor and quickly became like a big brother to me. He spent half is life hiding from his truth and trying to convince others of the person he was faking to be, almost to the point that he believed the person he was faking to be was truly who he was. It wasn’t until he was tired of the lies that he came out and began living his truth loud and proud. Molly is a military brat, daughter, sister, friend, and sailor. I met Molly in high school she quickly became  like a little sister to me, bringing laughs and smiles to everyones faces. We have a conversation about knowing where you are in life right now is exactly where you are meant to be. For a long time, Molly believed that she had to have everything in order and that she needed to be in a certain place in life at a certain time. In some ways, that mindset helped her. She graduated from college in three years and went straight into living the life she thought she wanted. But she soon found out that was far from the truth. It was not until she finally slowed down and took the time to really think about what she wanted out of life that she realize life will take you right where you are meant to be if you allow it. Connor is a military brat, son, brother, and friend. Connor and I met in high school, and we have been best friends for 12 years now. During our senior year, Connor lost his sister. When we graduated, he decided to take some time away from school and do missionary work. The experience helped him initiate the healing process from his sisters death and other traumas that he had been holding on to from his past. He now works to be more intentional with the people he loves and the time that he gets to spend with them. The missionary work also ignited a purpose in him that he is looking to continue to pursue for the rest of his life. This is his dandelion story.

Isolde is a military brat, daughter, sister, and friend. I met Isolde in middle school, and I have to admit I may not have been the best influence or role model when we were kids. So to get to reconnect with her now was a chance for us to laugh at the stupid things we did as kids and realize that we all do stupid things, but stupid things do not define us. We have a conversation about social anxiety and the hold it had on us a point in our lives that we were meant to be thriving. Fabio is a military brat, husband, brother, son, father, and friend. Fabio is our first international on the podcast, and I enjoyed reconnecting with him from across the water. Fabio and I met in high school and bonded over our love of sports. Since then, Fabio has been creating his own path of success and recently started his own business. Today, he talks about the long road it took for him to realize that the path written for him by his parents was not the path that he was meant to take.
