The pot of stew bubbled and boiled until the room filled with a scrumptious scent. The prophets looked at each other and grinned–they could not wait to eat their feast.

"It's ready!" The cook called out as he hit a wooden spoon on the table to get everyone's attention.

As the prophets eagerly gathered around the pot, their stomachs growling with anticipation, one of them took a hesitant bite. "This stew tastes... strange," he remarked, furrowing his brow in confusion.

Another prophet, noticing the unusual taste, took a closer look at his bowl. "What did you put in this stew?" he asked, his voice tinged with concern.

But before anyone could answer, another prophet cried out in alarm, "That pot of stew is deadly!" They pushed their bowls away in fear, their faces pale with shock.

"Elisha, there's death in this pot!" another young man cried. His hands shaking.

Kali grinned and shouted a big "Woohoo!" as she opened the gift from her Aunt Mia and Aunt Siena, her mother's younger sisters. "Thank you!" She stood and gave each of them a big hug.

"I can't wait to go to the wildlife park." She turned the voucher over and gasped. "I'm even getting a photo with a koala?"

Her aunts laughed. "Yes!" Aunt Mia said. "You've been talking about getting a photo with a koala for two whole years, so we asked your mum, and she said it was fine."

Kali squealed and hugged them again. "Also…" Aunt Siena smiled. "We're taking you this Sunday."

Kali clapped and cheered as she spun around the room. "Oh, wait. Is Ella coming too?"

"Definitely!" Aunt Siena exclaimed. "We can't take one niece and leave the other behind, can we?"

Kali shook her head.

Ella, who had been watching from the corner of the room, grinned and ran to hug her aunts. "Thank you," she whispered.

That week, the sisters talked about nothing but the trip to the wildlife park. Kali had been wanting to go, and since her parents didn't have the funds for it, her aunts had kindly given her this birthday surprise. Sunday couldn't come soon enough.

Today we have a great story about a lady missionary called Amy Carmichael. She worked in India for many years helping children and did an orphanage so they could live free and happy. Amy's story is very inspirational!

Here's a sneak peek:

The following morning, as usual, she drank her cup of tea, enjoying the morning sunshine on her face as she prayed. Suddenly she opened her eyes as she felt the touch of a little hand on hers.

"I'm Preena," said a small voice, "and I want to live with you always."

Amy didn't know what to say. Then, looking into her deep brown eyes, full of sorrow beyond her years, she motioned for Preena to sit by her side.

Preena told Amy everything that had happened to her…how she was given to the temple as a slave, and how she tried to escape. Amy was shocked! "How many more children must be suffering like this?" she thought to herself. She resolved from that point on to help as many children as she could, and that is exactly what she did.

One day, Amy's whole life was turned upside down. Her father's business was forced to close. The financial stress upon him was so great that he became very ill and passed away shortly after. As the eldest of seven children, Amy dropped out of school to help her mother with the younger siblings. So, she began sharing Bible stories with them and inviting other children in the neighbourhood to listen. She also started visiting the slums where the poor people lived, yet her greatest burden was for the poor girls working in the flour mills.

They were known as the "Shawlies" since they couldn't afford to buy hats and wore shawls instead. For 14 hours a day they worked in terrible conditions and for very little pay. Amy wanted so much to bring them to her church, but she could see how unwelcome they were.

Today we have a beautiful Bible story about a woman called Dorcas - you can find her story in the Bible in Acts 9:39-42. Here is a sneak peek....

Days passed, and Cyrus and his mother waited anxiously for Dorcas to send word that she had completed the dress. But the only news they got was that Dorcas was very sick.

"Oh, no!" Cyrus' mother sobbed. "Poor Dorcas! She has done so much to help everyone in this village; there must be something we can do to help her."

Cyrus and his mother walked through the city to Dorcas' house so that they could cheer her up with kind words and some flowers that Cyrus had picked from the garden.

When they reached the house, Cyrus saw that Dorcas' small bedroom was already crowded with local people who had come to visit her and pray for her.

Squeezing into the house, they found a spot where they could see Dorcas.

She was lying very still on her bed. Her skin was burning up with fever, and she let out a dreadful cough. Her face looked thin and pale, and Cyrus could tell that she was very sick indeed.

Hey GIGI kids,

Today we have a great story for you called "The Case of the Missing Manger." A story reminding us that Christmas is about Jesus and not the material things. Here's a sneak peek....

Sunnyhill Primary was buzzing with excitement. The scent of crayons, pine decorations, and fresh photocopy paper filled the Year 2 classroom. It was one week before Christmas, and that meant only one thing: The Christmas Assembly was nearly here!

"Alright, everyone," said Mrs Lane, clapping her hands. "Time to unpack the nativity props!"

Cheers filled the air.

Rosie bounced on her toes. "I hope the angel wings are back!" Elijah grinned. "I just hope the shepherd costumes don't itch this year." Hannah, holding her script, smiled proudly. "Well, I'm Mary. So I get to rock the baby Jesus!"

Mrs Lane gently opened a large storage box and carefully unwrapped a small, hand-carved wooden manger. Nestled inside was a cloth-wrapped baby Jesus figure with painted eyes and a peaceful smile.

"This," she said, holding it up, "is the most important part of our nativity."

The class grew quiet. Even Luca stopped fidgeting.

Mrs Lane placed the manger gently on a small table at the front of the classroom. Around it, they arranged tiny cardboard animals, some straw, and wooden figures of Mary, Joseph, and the shepherds.

"We decorate, we sing, we wear costumes," said Mrs Lane, "but remember—Jesus is the reason for Christmas. Not lights or lollies or tinsel—Jesus."

Rosie felt a warm, special feeling in her chest. She looked at the tiny baby and whispered, "You're the whole reason we're doing this."

The children spent the rest of the afternoon rehearsing. Hannah practiced rocking a pretend baby, Elijah worked on his shepherd lines, and Rosie read her narration into the microphone.

But as the sun dipped behind the schoolyard trees and the last bell rang, none of them knew what was coming.

The manger would be gone by morning.

And the Christmas mystery… would begin.
