Darrell Berry is retired from the Army, having served in both the enlisted and officer ranks. He has a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master’s in Human resources, and a post graduate diploma in strategic intelligence from the Defense Intelligence College. He served during the “Don’t Ask, Don’t tell” policy era regarding gay service members. The author lives north of San Antonio, Texas, with his two rescue dogs. Early This Morning is his first novel. He is currently working on a second.

The mystery novel by Darrell Berry deals with a small group of high-ranking Pentagon officers and some congressmen who are trying to get rid of gay men and women in the military. Berry is a retired Army officer who has worked in intelligence and also served during the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” Period in the United States Army.

I started writing fantasy stories with colorful illustrations when I was nine. Later, I discovered music and lived the life of composer for many years.  I earned a Doctorate in Music Composition. I am the type of person that needs an active imaginative scenario to get to sleep. Fran Hawthorne has been writing novels since she was four years old, although she was sidetracked for several decades by journalism. During that award-winning career, she wrote eight nonfiction books, mainly about consumer activism, the drug industry, and the financial world, and was also an editor or regular contributor for The New York Times, Business Week, Fortune, and many other publications. 

But Fran never abandoned her true love: Her first two novels, The Heirs and I Meant to Tell You, were published in 2018 and 2022 and together won or were named a finalist for nine awards, including the Eric Hoffer Book Awards and the Sarton Award. HER DAUGHTER, Fran’s third novel, will be published in January 2026 by Black Rose Writing.

Guy Morris has led an extraordinary life. After escaping an abusive childhood at age 13 to become a homeless runaway, Guy worked alongside migrant workers before he earned three degrees by age 25, including acceptance to Harvard MBA and a scholarship from University of Arizona. Recognized for his innovations in building a macro-economic that out-performed the Federal Reserve and change how economic are still built.

I am the author of a biography about my father’s amazing story of living as a Jewish man in Hungary when the Nazis, and later the communists, seized power. Growing up in affluence, young Ervin Wolf was forced into a labor camp, unaware that his parents were deported to Auschwitz.

In Not a Real Enemy: The True Story of a Hungarian Jewish Man’s Fight for Freedom, Ervin relies on his wits and good fortune to escape the Nazis not once, but twice. Once freed, however, he finds life under communism so unbearable he must make the most daring of all escapes in the dead of a winter’s night. Not a Real Enemy is the true story of one of the most unknown chapters in the Holocaust, following the transformation of a young man as he confronts antisemitism, cruelty, kindness, despair, and hope in his journey toward freedom. Classic Cinema With the Sage Sisters

Stories are a huge part of the way humans communicate with each other. Celeste and I think all stories are allegories where we can learn all kinds of important things, not the least of which is how to understand ourselves and others better. The best stories can be told over and over from one generation to the next and still teach great lessons. Emotional Intelligence and critical thinking are two of those lessons. Celeste and I think there are many classic movies that show us the progression of where humanity is today and we want to share them with you.

Shakespeare was right, “All the world is a stage and all the men and women merely players.” The stories we tell and consume are us trying to figure out who we are, why we’re here, and the kind of world we want to live in.

Diane Merrill Wiggington was a Story-Power guest way back in December of 2023. We connected again recently and I finally read a couple of her books that I think you will enjoy as the weather becomes cooler. One is a political/romance, A Compromising Position, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and her venture into the mystery genre, The Magician Killer. Many of her books are award winners. I highly recommend both of these books and encourage you to check out all of her previous work. We also talk about her children’s books, which I want to check out as well. Jude was awarded the title of Duke of Bayonne for services rendered to the Crown. He was educated in the finest schools in London alongside other aristocratic noblemen, so he knows how to blend in. Jilted in his youth, Jude is determined to take what he wants and he soon discovers that he wants Lady Angelina Stewart.
