Hi my name is Pixie and I’m from Ireland. My parents are the most controlling parents on the planet!

Why are my parents so controlling you ask? Well…

When I was 8yrs old, my parents carried me to the mall to get me a pair of skates. While they were talking to the sales clerk I saw this cute puppy at the store entrance. I went over and patted the puppy bu then it ran away from me. Being eight, of course I chased the puppy. It was all fun and games till the puppy ran down some stairs and I followed. I tripped and tumbled down the stairs and must have blacked out for a few minutes because when I opened my eyes a crowd of people had surrounded me. 

"MOMMY! DADDY!"

I looked around and suddenly my parents burst through the  crowd.

"Oh, Pixie, are you ok?"

Mom hugged me but when I tried to get up my ankle hurt.  

"Ouch!"

"Let's get you to the hospital.

What Mom and Dad thought to be just a visit to the hospital to get my ankle checked out turned into a meeting with Social Services who reported my parents for negligence. A judge sentenced them to six months of parental classes. My parents were furious.

Hello, I’m Neenah from Arizona. 

My mom died when I was just a baby and my very protective dad worked very hard to provide for me. 

On my 5th birthday, he dressed up as my favorite Disney princess and when my friends made fun of him, he blew glitter in their faces. It was perfect! I was Daddy’s Little Girl, and because of him I got really into sports. At school, I was captain of the wrestling team and no one dared mess with me…well except for the cheerleaders and their captain Jenny who kept making fun of me for looking like a boy. 

“Well, well, well. If it isn’t the captain of the boys’ club!” 

“Get… Out of the way… Jenny! This… is …not the time to …make fun of me!” 

I was so out of breath because I was carrying seats to the gymnasium for an upcoming event. 

As I walked past Jenny, she tripped me and I fell. 

I tried to get up but my knee was all scraped and bleeding. Jenny and her cheerleader barbies were busy laughing when a girl walked up to them and threw a hard punch right at Jenny's perfect nose.

"Ouch! Who are you?"

The new girl stood toe to toe with Jenny, staring her down.

Hi, I’m Melody and I live in LA.

When I was born, rumor has it that dad took one look at me and said I was an alien. You see, I was born with scales like a fish covering my whole body.

"OH my God are those scales? Please take her. I can't-"

The nurse was so frightened by my skin that she fainted, while holding me! Mom grabbed me from her just in time or else she'd have dropped me.

From that day onwards, my dad avoided being in contact with me and as I grew older, his disgust for my skin condition worsened. 

One time, he got a promotion at work and came home more excited than I had ever seen him. As soon as he saw mom, he ran to her and hugged her tightly. Excited, I also ran and joined in on the hug but dad shook me off so hard that I fell flat on my face.

“I told you not to get close to me!”

“She is just a child! How can you be so ruthless to your own child? SHHHH… Come here my little mermaid. You’re okay!”

Mom loved me very much and she had tried for so many years to show dad that I was harmless but never succeeded. When she took me to kindergarten, the other kids cried and cowered in the corner so I had to be withdrawn from school and mom homeschooled me.

Unfortunately, she got very sick and passed away when I was 8 years old leaving me all alone with dad who wouldn’t even look at me.

Barely a year later, dad married this woman named Paula and she and her daughter, Charlotte, moved in with us immediately. The first time Charlotte and I met, I thought she would run away but she looked more amazed than shocked.

Hi! I'm Chloe! I was born to the smartest mom in the world, Mrs Nikki. As a child alone she won multiple awards because of how genius she was and had her own law firm at 22. Everyone expected I would be smart like her. But instead of books, I loved music, and this made mom very angry.

There was this time when I was six, and my Grandma got me a mini guitar as my birthday present. I played with it all the time and found it difficult to do my homework.

Uncle was mom's brother who hadn't done too well in school as mom had. I thought he was living fine, but mom always spoke bad of him. Infact mom was always nasty to people, except clients who paid her lots of money and her only friend Mariam. 

Mariam was nice, but her son was not. Even though we knew each other from babyhood, he was just a meanie.

In class, he scored straight A's while I struggled to have B's, and he would always look down on me for it.

Hi! My name is Tazi and I was raised by apes.

When I was 8 years old I have vague memories of being brought to this island by my human parents. I don’t know why they were here, but all I know is that they never survived. One night, a jaguar came into our shelter and killed them. I would’ve been jaguar food next, if it weren’t for the apes.

One ape, I call her Ma, suddenly appeared and defeated the jaguar before it could eat me. Ma then found me, just a little girl, all alone, and decided to take me in.

I’ve been living with the apes ever since. We don’t have a language like humans do, but we communicate through body movement. And since I was 8 years old when I was taken in by the apes, I could still speak some English, though not very well.

It was tough adapting into this new life. I remember one time they were teaching me how to swing from tree to tree, and as I let go of the branch it snapped and I nearly fell to my death, but Ma quickly jumped forward and rescued me. It’s taken a lot of getting used to, but now, at 16 years of age, the apes have become my family and I have become less of a human and more of an ape.

Once my family started to trust me, they revealed to me something very special about them. Their hair is as strong as steel. For real. You could shoot an arrow at their back and it would not break through their hair armour. Because of this I’d always felt self-conscious since I didn’t have the same impenetrable hair as them on my body, but Ma always made sure I felt included.
