Storyfeather

Welcome to the first episode of Season 2!

"It is not your place to understand the will of the gods. Only to accept it." The gray god's voice was soft. His tone gentle. But the sword-smith would later remember that it was the first time he heard something else in a god's voice. A tremor. Of doubt.

What happens when a grieving man seeks vengeance on the gods and forges a weapon that they cannot withstand?

Hello there. I'm Nila, an Ordinary Citizen of Earth. And I'm here to tell you that Season Two of the Storyfeather podcast is coming soon. What is the Storyfeather podcast? It's a narrative fiction podcast.

That means I read stories—stories that I've written in the genres of science fiction, fantasy, horror, fairy tale, mystery, and mythology. And I read these stories against a backdrop of amazing music and the occasional sound effect. The stories in this upcoming season have a theme, and that theme is Objects of Power. What should you expect in these stories?

Evil bunnies. A cursed necklace. A sapphire that contains the song of a siren. A pocket that produces fresh eggs. An invincible prince. And a derelict ship floating in the middle of the ocean that may not be as abandoned as it appears. Those are just a few of the stories you can expect in Season Two.

The first episode is called "A Sword Named Blasphemy" about a powerful sword forged by a sword-maker who is driven to vengeance against the gods in his realm. Look for that episode on December 7th, when the Storyfeather podcast returns. In the meantime, Season One contains 52 episodes, so if you're interested in what I've just described, please check out the Storyfeather podcast on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, or wherever you can find podcasts. You can also find episodes on my website at storyfeather.com. Just click on the Podcast button. I hope you'll join me come December 7 2018, because I've told a lot of stories already, but I still have stories to tell you.

I had an ulterior motive when I entered the Winsome household as an instructor for the five children. They were wealthy, these Winsomes. And I was in need of patronage.

Why do the five children of a recently arrived family in town believe that their new stepmother is up to no good?

Their even newer tutor tries to find out, in this episode of the Storyfeather podcast.

The first time I really dared myself to say it—at least in my head—I was ten. I had finally put all the pieces of the puzzle together. The little things I'd noticed all my life, stuff that someone could say was in my imagination. A plate of bacon sliding across the table by itself. A jam jar floating in mid-air for a few seconds. A feeling like pressure or pulling whenever something like that happened.

What does one boy do when he suspects that someone in his family has an illegal psychic ability?

The little blue bird named Turtle flew over the same valley she had searched dozens of times over the past few moons. Something caught her eye and she alighted on a low branch of a beech. She had seen red. It was curious. She cocked her head to the left and the right. There was red dripping from the bushes below, smeared into the dirt. She might have thought it was blood if there hadn't been so much of it that no creature could have shed that much. Save perhaps a giant.

What compels a little girl, a giant, and a harper to try and save a town from a monster that is stalking the nearby woods?
