Joanna Ho是一位华裔美国作家，她的爸爸是宁波人，妈妈是台湾人。她曾经不喜欢自己的单眼皮，总是希望自己能够有迪士尼公主的大眼睛，直到她30岁的时候在台湾翻阅一本时尚杂志才发现原来自己也可以是美丽的。Joanna的的首部绘本作品Eyes That Kiss in the Corners今年出版后轰动了西方亚洲社区，这本书讲述了一个中国女孩通过家族根源认识到自己的美。在这期节目中Joanna讲述了为什么认识自身的美是一种对社会偏见的反抗革命行为，家长与教育者怎样培养有社会正义感的孩子。

Joanna Ho is the author of Eyes That Kiss in the Corners. As a writer and an educator, she is passionate about anti-bias, anti-racism and equity work. In this episode, Joanna shares with us her journey of recognizing her Asian beauty, how learning to recognize our beauty in a world that tells us opposing messages is an act of resistance and revolution, and how to teach children diversity and social justice.

本期播客我们邀请到了美国绘本作家、插画师Cindy Derby。2021年，她为绘本《Outside In》配的插画荣获了凯迪克大奖！Cindy的画面非常有表现力，被《纽约时报》形容为“深邃、充满活力、神秘、失控的恰到好处......”。《How to Walk an Ant》 和《Two Many Birds 》是她自写自画的两本绘本。在创作绘本之前，她当过艺术老师、演员、木偶师。一起来听听有趣的Cindy的故事吧！

Cindy Derby is an American author and illustrator of many critically acclaimed books for children.  In 2021 she received a Caldecott Honor for her art in Outside Inby Deborah Underwood.  It was also named a Best Book of 2020 by The New York Times which describes her work as “profound” and “alive...mysterious, and wonderfully out of control.”  How to Walk an Ant and Two Many Birds  are two books written and illustrated by her.  She was a puppeteer and performer before she started to create books.

Ani Castillo是一位在墨西哥出生长大的漫画家，她移居加拿大后，由于难以适应陌生的环境与语言，有很长一段时间停止了她热爱的画画，躲在家里不与人来往，因为她担心别人会拒绝她、不喜欢她。有一天，Ani设想出了Ping的概念——在人生旅途中，我们只能‘乒’，我们无法决定别人会怎样‘乓’。在这期节目中，我们采访了Ani Castillo关于《Ping》这本绘本背后的故事，Ani还与我们分享了她认为家长可以怎样帮助孩子更好地在生活中勇敢地去‘乒’。

Ani Castillo is a cartoonist and children's book author and illustrator from Mexico. Her debut picture book Ping is about showing up and sharing ourselves with the world with the best of our intentions. In this episode, we talked to Ani about the story behind creating Ping. She shares with us how adults and children can all use the tool of ping to live and connect with others more courageously.

Sophie Blackall is an Australian artist and illustrator of children's books based in Brooklyn, New York. She won the 2016 Caldecott Medal for Finding Winnie: The True Story of the World’s Most Famous Bear and the 2019 Medal for Hello Lighthouse. In this episode, we talked about the background stories of her latest book If You Come to Earth and she also shared how she cultivated her own children in art.

本期播客，我们专访了艺术家Marion Deuchars！出生在苏格兰的Marion现定居于英国伦敦，最早被人熟知的是她别具一格的手写字体和设计。1981年以优秀毕业生的身份从从皇家艺术学院毕业后，Marion和别人合办了一个艺术设计工作室，设计领域包罗企业文化、出版、编辑、产品包装、网站设计、手工、室内设计等方方面面。Marion也因优秀的设计作品获得了国际艺术指导协会的金、银奖，并四次荣获D&AD铅笔奖。

当Marion成为两个男孩的母亲，开始和他们一起读童书，并不是所有书都令她满意。Marion萌生了一个念头：自己创作适合孩子阅读的书籍。恰好有一个契机，Marion受邀创作一些给孩子们的活动书（activity book），也就是后来我们看到的《Let's Make Some Great Art》系列。

在做活动书的过程中，Marion挑选了其中的几个角色，陆续创作了以艺术家小乌鸦Bob为主角的故事书《Bob the Artist》、《Bob's Blue Period》。2020年，第三本以Bob为主角的绘本《Bob Goes Pop》出版了。

这次访谈，我们从什么是创意聊起，探讨了Marion的新书《Bob Goes Pop》的创作灵感来源以及背后的一些故事，Marion还分享了自己作为两个男孩的母亲是如何给孩子做艺术启蒙的等等内容，希望Marion的作品和分享都能打开大家看世界的视角。

Marion Deuchars publishes beautifully illustrated children's books and has created her own globally recognised style of hand lettering.

Her 'Let's Make Some Great Art' series of art activity books for Laurence King Publishing have won numerous awards and translated into 22 languages.

She has also written and illustrated three picture books; Bob the Artist and Bob's Blue Period, and Bob Goes Pop about a Blackbird who finds his true self through the power of art. Let's Make some Great Animals/Patterns have been published in Autumn 2020.
