You will learn how your earliest experiences in relationships shape your adult ones.Show NotesHow our earliest experiences in relationships shape our adult ones. You will learn how your earliest experiences in relationships shape your adult ones."What we tend to find is people love to be able to say, okay, cool, I'm going to change their behavior. I'm going to stop dating that type of person. And they think that they can battle it out on the conscious level, but the problem is you canLily Walford is a relationship and dating coach with a focus on helping people heal from past relationships, break old patterns, and enter into compatible new relationships. She has a background in behavioral profiling, body language, and polygraphs, which she uses to help her clients identify and change the patterns that have been holding them back. This is Lily Walford's story...I am a relationship and dating coach, and I help people heal from past relationships, break old patterns, and enter into compatible, healthy relationships. I have found that many people have a hard time connecting to others (and themselves) because they are so used to being on social media and living their lives online. Our identities are formed in childhood, and they are based on how we have learned to love and be loved. If we had a parent who was mostly unavailable, we may have a hard time with relationships because we feel like we need to earn love. It is important to be aware of our patterns and needs in order to break the cycle and create healthy, lasting relationships..In this episode, you will learn the following:1. How our childhood experiences shape our adult relationships2. The impact of social media on our ability to connect with others3. The importance of understanding our own needs and fears.Resources:http://www.lovewithintelligence.com/ Chapter Summaries:[00:00:00] - It's basically how we have learnt to love and be loved. When you were growing up, who did you crave more as a child? Your mum or your dad? Maybe you had a parent that was unavailable or critical, or a parent who praised you for getting high grades, or one that only gave you attention when you fell over and hurt your knee. This would create a pattern of how you believe love should be.[00:01:08] - Doug Thompson is the host of the Doug Thompson podcast. This week he has a guest from across the pond, Lily Walford. Lily is doing well despite being 5-6 hours ahead of Doug on Monday, which he likes, as he likes to get advance notice if something bad is going to happen.[00:02:06] - Lily is a relationship and dating coach with a bit of a twist. She has researched things like behavioral profiling, body language, and how to read people better than a polygraph machine. She helps people to heal from past relationships, stop older relationship patterns, and to avoid narcissistic or manipulative or toxic relationships.[00:04:11] - Social media has a huge impact on people's relationship. People want to cling on to things like status and need to prove themselves in order to be noticed. People tend to follow the same patterns in their relationships. The unconscious mind is stronger than the conscious mind. As a child, you had to earn love from your parents. Now as an adult, you have to change your behavior to earn it. It's hard to change the patterns that are ingrained in us. It takes time and a lot of self-awareness to change them. It was a memory that was causing her so much pain where she was unable to fully connect with people. She stopped going into relationships within 90...
