Storytelling with Seth

Shazam! The Movie - https://www.dccomics.com/movies/shazam

The heart of the story is one that we can all relate to as children and adults who remember being children or might not have grown up at all. The heartbeat? It’s hard to do the right thing. Hard for superheroes and the rest of us. But, even if you don’t have a family or find yourself making a new one, when you open your heart to people who want to help you be your best you are stronger than you could ever be on your own.

Oh and, the mid-credits scene is one that fans of the classic Shazam adventures will enjoy wondering over in anticipation of the sure-to-follow sequel.

Shazam has Four Origins - https://www.cbr.com/shazam-comic-book-origin-stories/

Whiz Comics #2 (1939): "Introducing Captain Marvel"

What's immediately noticeable about the first appearance of the original Captain Marvel is how brusque and brief the story is. At fewer than 12 pages, it's so economical that it becomes unintentionally funny.

Shazam! #1 (1973)

Two decades later, DC licensed the characters (before buying them outright in 1991), and set them up on their own parallel world of Earth-S, with their own monthly comic.

The Power of Shazam! (1994)

Written, drawn and painted by Jerry Ordway, this original graphic novel superseded New Beginning. It was also followed by an ongoing series of the same name, published from 1995 to 1999.

Shazam! (2011)

Written by Geoff Johns, drawn by Gary Frank, and originally running as a backup in Justice League, this version of the story is on what the upcoming film is largely based.

We have photographic proof of a Black Hole - https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/chandra/news/black-hole-image-makes-history

"From now on we live in a world where man has walked on the Moon. It's not a miracle; we just decided to go." Jim Lovell

The Rise of Skywalker trailer - https://www.starwars.com

The trailer for Rise of the Skywalker is sharp, exciting, and filled with heroic, terrifying, and puzzling images that only heighten the anticipation and speculation surrounding its arrival.

On a Road to Self Acceptance with Tara Massan and Seth Singleton

There are few feelings more powerful than want.

Only a small number of people even know what it is that they want.

Knowing what you want can be the most empowering experience.

That is why one of the most difficult challenges we can face is when we can’t do what we want.

Personal desires, the plan for a dream, project, or a community, are goals that are susceptible to hardship and misfortune.

When an obstacle prevents you from getting what you want it can leaving you feeling helpless.

The great challenge in these moments is when you can stop focusing on the thing or things that you can’t do and you find a way to work on what you still can do.

In this conversation with Tara Massan on our series about Self Acceptance, we discuss a process that can help determine the choices you still have when you can’t do the very things you want to do.

This episode is part of a series on Self Acceptance with Tara Massan.

Arrow will come to an end with a limited ten-episode 8th season that will bring the show to a close next Fall.

The original post on Stephen Amell's Twitter announcing the news was followed by an emotional video from Amell.

I guarantee the DCN Podcast will be talking about this on Saturday.

I love this article about Superman hiding his clothes.

And then there is this fun article on video games and if they encourage people to make good or bad choices.

I'm almost finished editing my conversation with Tara Massan and will be posting it soon.

In the meantime here is a clip to enjoy.

Some mixed early reviews about Captain Marvel are breaking online hours before the Thursday night premiere.

Apex just hit 50 million users.

Does this mean it can catch Fortnite?

Or is it just a great sprint from a new title?

Keeping A Commitment Can Mean Stumbling Past Obstacles

The intent for this weekly podcast began with a goal to be consistent.

I chose to publish on Wednesdays.

This week that did not happen.

DCN Podcast #13: Armie Hammer Controversy, Batwoman Casting News, & Batman/TMNT 3

Whether it’s Armie Hammer’s chances at being Batman, Dougray Scott joining ‘Batwoman’, or the third chapter of the critically acclaimed Batman/TMNT series, they talk about it all!

And what if it is all just a test balloon to gauge fan reaction?

Ugh.

For people who spend a lot of time plugging inputs into video games, the game doesn’t end when their head hits the pillow.

What about you?

The Wednesday Wrap Up

*What this is?

* An honest attempt to tell you about the week that's passed and the week ahead The goal is to do this every Wednesday or maybe Thursday.

* My schedule is beginning to take on some interesting patterns and I think this format will fit in nicely.  So, who am I? Perhaps this is where I should offer a brief, if not proper introduction.

* Who am I?

* I’m Seth Singleton. My name is on this podcast  I’m a writer, an editor, more importantly a storyteller.  I’m a writer who just finished the final, I hope chapter of my first novel. I have written a short story called This is a Language of Fists that is available on Amazon.  It’s also a an audio short story that will also be available on Amazon and will soon be a whisper synced to the original short story.  My second This is a Boxing Story is making the submission rounds, but it might become part of a collection

* I also write for different publications like DC Comics News and I will sometimes mention recent articles that I enjoyed writing or working on.  Editor for the video game Planet Rise from Blue Alchemy Studio I work with an amazing group of talented writers. We will be appearing at GDC 2019 in March and anyone interested can check out the game. Our blog and sign up for the beta version 40 free cards.  If you are going to be at GDC send me a message or stop by and say hi. My job as editor also means that some of the things I am looking at and listening to come from the world of video games.

* Looking Back

Things I’m still looking back at East Bay Comic Con was February 10th  I'm still recovering from meeting John Wesley Shipp I have a write up from his Q&A which was very inspirational  What originally brought me there? I was with Jack Katz who was signing original art and copies of The First Kingdom

* Marvel’s Netflix

I’t’s just sad, but I don’t have the time to go deeper.

* GTA Cheaters

A court has ordered Florida resident Jhonny Perez to pay $150,000 in damages (and $66,869 in attorney fees) for creating and sharing Elusive, a paid cheating tool for GTA Online. OUCH!
