In Mark 13, Jesus is asked about the signs for the end of the age. Mixing short term and long term prophecy, Jesus walks through what life in a broken world will look and feel like. Although easy to get lost in the nuance and debates, the main charge for them (and for us) is to stay alert because Jesus is coming back.

In Mark 10, Jesus continues his conversation with the disciples over what it truly means to be a disciple. Using children as an example of childlike faith, Jesus will turn their worldview (and ours) upside down to see the world the way God does.

This episode begins with a lengthy discussion on Mark 10:1-12. Here Jesus responds to a question about divorce. For those who have divorce in their story, our prayer is for you to see the tenderness and love of Jesus as he brings humanity back to created intent. All divorce is a product of brokenness. Jesus has come to heal our brokenness, redeem our stories, and reconnect us back to himself. He is working in your life and even when you don't see it, he sees you, loves you, and is with you.

Mark 9 is the turning point in the gospel of Mark. Once the disciples embrace the person of Jesus, they are invited into the purpose of Jesus. As Jesus invites his followers to embrace the mission of the Messiah, he also prepares them for their own mission. In order to be true disciples of Jesus, they must love as he loves, lead as he leads, as they come to Jesus with a childlike (not childish) faith and dependency. This is what true greatness is.
