1 Samuel 1-3.

How does God speak today? Does he? How do we discern the voice of God in our own lives? In the opening chapters of 1 Samuel, God is speaking, but his people are dull of hearing. In this episode, we explore what can we learn from the people of God then in order to better listen to the voice of God now. God is a God who speaks, but are his people listening?

Judges 3-21.

When God wants to deliver his people, he raises up a deliverer. But what happens when each successive sin spirals God's people further and further away from God? In this episode we look at 4 Judges who represent the downward spiral of sin from good to bad to worse. The book of Judges is dark. It is meant to show us mankind's utter depravity apart from God. Joshua 13-24.

Ladies and gentlemen, what you have all been waiting for... the land allotment of the Promised Land! This part of Scripture is easy to overlook. Yet, it actually shows us the heart of God who desires to create a place for his people in fulfillment of his promises. This land is an echo of Eden and foreshadow of the better land to come, Heaven.

There are hard moments in the story of Scripture. As you move through the narrative, you see God extending grace, but also enacting his justice over humanity. In the book of Joshua, he even uses his own people as the means of this justice, casting out and killing a people in the Promised Land. So then... is God guilty of genocide? This is a hard question, but one that finds its answer in the story of Scripture. The more we dig into it, the more we find a God who is love and gives grace.

Joshua 1-12.

The faith needed to enter into the land will be the faith required to remain in the land. In this episode, we look at Rahab, Achan, and the Gibeonites. When these three stories are seen together, they show a pattern of faith, faithlessness, and fear. These three stories are a mirror to our own story of walking by faith, while being tempted to walk in faithlessness and fear.

Joshua 1-5.

As the people of God enter into the Promised Land, God reinforces three critical lessons. They are called to be fearless, faithful, and followers of God. All of these connect to one another. How do you be fearless in life? Be faithful to God. How do you faithful to God? Follow God in everything. These three lessons allow God's people to enter into God's land. It is only through this active faith that they (and us) are able to enter into the life God intends for his people.
