One of my wife and I's favorite things to do around the holidays is visit the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center. This is located at National Harbor in Maryland. The resort pulls out all of the stops and transforms into a magical winter wonderland. And it's the home of ICE! To learn more about the experience, I spoke with Jennifer Cerasani, director of marketing and public relations for the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center.

If you're reading this, Sarah, then I hope you know you had me looking over my shoulder while I read 'The Sanatorium.'

I love watching horror and thriller movies. But I was never big on reading the novels. I changed that over the last year. I've sunk my teeth into a few different thrillers and I've so enjoyed it. They let my imagination run wild. There was one book I read over the summer that kept me from getting out of bed to use the bathroom because I was too scared about what might be in the hallway. I'm not joking.

In comes 'The Sanatorium,' the debut novel from Sarah Pearse. What really stood out about this one for me was how Sarah painted this incredible picture of a hotel in the middle of nowhere. It got me thinking of 'The Shining' and how that hotel played such a sinister role. Having a location as one of the villains allows for so much imagination.

I really loved 'The Sanatorium' and would highly recommend it. I caught up with Sarah to discuss the book and how she got to this point in her career.

If your book is set in a radio station, I'm probably going to read it. Radio has been my life for over 20 years, so I'm always interested to see how other people portray it. That's what drew me to Rachel Lynn Solomon's latest novel, 'The Ex Talk.' It's a romance novel with two main characters that work at the same public radio station in Seattle.

I'll be honest, I was a little wary about reading a romance novel because of the stereotypes I held on to about them. But 'The Ex Talk' was great and truly entertaining. I'm so glad I took a chance on it and hope you will too!

I caught up with Rachel to talk more about the book and how she seamlessly integrated Gritty into the conversation.

Author Lisa Gardner is no stranger to releasing a new book. She's written more than 40 novels in her career. Many of those have recurring characters that fans have been following along with. But, for the first time in two decades, Lisa released a new standalone story. It's called "Before She Disappeared" and I really enjoyed it. I had a chance to catch up with Lisa to talk about the book, the work that led up to it, and how she was unprepared for zoom based on the design of her house.
