To build excellent organizations, management must build with level three workers—those committed to working according to the will and ways of God. Level one workers are not trustworthy and therefore take considerable supervision to enable them to produce acceptable work. Level two workers are better than level one workers, but they lack clarity of the Holy Spirit’s calling. Only level three workers are driven by the call of God on their lives and therefore work as unto the Lord. This empowers them to produce outstanding work, which enables organizations to deliver world class product and services. Wise management teams will build a culture seeking to train every employee to become a level three worker.

To build an excellent world-class organization, management must learn and practice a biblical worldview—the only true worldview. The senior leaders must be equally yoked in their understanding of how to practice a biblical worldview organizationally. Furthermore, the senior leaders must learn to develop strategic plans in alignment with the will and ways of God. Then the strategic plan must be executed with excellence—congruent with a biblical worldview. Finally, the customers or clients served by the organization will help validate how well the organization is aligned with the will and ways of God.

No organization will enjoy lasting success unless it is built according to the will and ways of God. One of the key ways to align with the will and ways of God is to understand delegated authority. To build an organization, for profit or not-for-profit, requires sound thinking about authority. All licit authority comes from God and must be subject to his will and ways. To achieve enduring success, employers and managers must always function knowing they will ultimately give an account to God for their actions. Obedience to the will and ways of God in the context of delegated authority is the only way to true success. And the only way to live obediently is to be empowered by Christ. Therefore to build enduring excellent organizations requires submission to divinely ordained authority throughout the organization and empowerment by Christ to live accordingly.

Many organizational leaders want to direct and dictate; they expect workers to understand and comply without question. But human beings don’t always understand and frequently fail to comply. Therefore wise leaders must learn how to communicate truth in a way that encourages comprehension and compliance. Furthermore, leaders must be able to communicate to all people in the organization regardless of their maturity, personality, or intellect. Asking powerful questions is one of the best ways to help all types of people wrestle with truth and give them an opportunity to better understand truth. Excellent organizational leaders must learn to communicate clearly, compellingly, and cogently. Powerful questions can be one of the best ways to facilitate effective communication and therefore release individual and organizational potential.

Individuals, as well as organizations, should practice the principle of the tithe not as a ritual but out of a genuine relationship of gratitude to and dependence on Christ. We should be joyfully thankful to God and become dependent on him when we recognize God as the source of success in the workplace. One way to express grateful hearts is to practice the tithe principle both individually and organizationally. Management should seek to build organizations with individuals who practice the tithe principle from their hearts. And management should practice the tithe principle organizationally, as well.
