Our guest is Patrick Harbinson who serves as an executive producer of The Tower now playing on Britbox. Harbinson also worked with author Kate London to adapt her novel into this three-part drama.

Harbinson is one of the top crime writers in the business having been a producer on such hit series as Homeland, 24 and Law and Order SVU.

The Tower is grounded in the terrifying realities of life on the beat, this limited run mystery revolves around a shocking event at a tower in London’s East End where a veteran cop and teenage girl have fallen to their deaths and a rookie cop is now missing. Charged with figuring out what happened is DSI Sarah Collins (Gemma Whelan, Game of Thrones, Killing Eve) whose investigation takes her into the dark heart of policing in a complex and diverse city.

Based on the novel by Kate London, a former detective who spent eight years in the Metropolitan Police's homicide squad, the series co-stars Jimmy Akingbola, (Arrow, upcoming Bel-Air) Emmett J Scanlan (Peaky Blinders, Gangs of London) and Tahirah Sharif (Casualty, The Haunting of Bly Manor). Patrick Harbinson (Homeland, 24) serves as an executive producer in addition to adapting London's novel into this three-part drama.

Season two of Johnson the mega hit is back on Bounce and streaming on Brown Sugar. This week I spoke with two of the show’s executive producers Reesha L. Archibald and Eric C. Rhone.

Series creator Deji LaRay stars along with Thomas Q. Jones, Philip A. Smithey and Derrex Brady. The cast also includes D.L. Hughley, Rosa Acosta, Chloe James, James Austin Kerr and Jessica Luza.

A dramedy told from the Black male perspective, the series shines a light on hot-button stereotypes and misconceptions. Filmed in Atlanta, it follows four Black men who met in grade school and have been best friends ever since. And they all just happen to have the same last name of Johnson but are not related.

After 25 years of friendship, they are finding themselves in vastly different places in their lives, threatening the unity that has always been so strong. They confront and find humor in the most current controversial social issues from the Black man’s perspective, ranging from love and marriage to business, politics and religion.

The true brilliance of Johnsons is that you do not have to be black to enjoy or be entertained by the show. Every topic they address most of all face us can relate.

My guest this week is Scott Steehn the Director of Communication and Lead Handicapper for WinnersAndWhiners.com. We talk about how the broadcast and streaming networks have embraced sports gambling.

Once a taboo subject all the professional sports leagues along with media outlets like ESPN, Fox, CBS, NBC as well as a number of streaming outlets now have programing aimed directly at the sports wagering business and in some cases are partners with some of the larger gaming platforms.
