I thoroughly enjoyed the book GOLDIE TAKES A STAND. The story is informational and very interesting. I think it will be good for children to learn about the early life of Golda Meir. I especially liked the illustrations. The costumes of the children are so cute and I loved the expressions of the children's faces. The household decorations remind me of my grandma's house. This book is a perfect read-aloud to introduce kids to Golda Meir. My 2nd graders were completely engrossed in the story.

This is a charming story about Goldie that will delight young readers ...

Goldie Mabowehz was a nine-year-old girl who was the president of the âAmerican Young Sisters Society.â Of course being self-appointed worked very well for Goldie. Very well indeed and all the other girls clustered around her would probably agree, including her little sister Clara and her best friend Regina. There were problems to be solved and Goldie was just the girl to get things done. The problem was textbooks. âThe kids in our school didnât have enough money to buy them,â she explained to the Sisters.

Many of the kids like Hymie had tattered ones and that annoying Jennie leaned over her desk to peek at Friedaâs. Goldie figured out the math and if all the members could bring in a whole âthree cents a week,â that would do it. Now that was enough to buy either a loaf of bread or a quart of milk so that was a lot! Goldie was going to work in Mamaâs store to get her share and would charge everyone a little extra. Mrs. Garfinkel was none to happy when Goldie asked extra for those eggs. Stomp, stomp! Out the door she went. Not a penny more from her.

Things werenât looking up for the American Young Sisters Society because no one managed to raise that three cents. Goldie put her pointer finger to her chin and began to think. âWeâll hold a public meeting, a fundraising gala,â she told the girls, âand collect from everyone at one time.â They began to make posters, Frieda was going to do the invitations, and Lillian would create a âlist of important people.â Sarah was wondering just where the big event could be held. Goldie was a big thinker, but could she think big enough to get those textbooks?

This is a charming story about Goldie that will delight young readers. Of course Goldie Mabowehz is none other than Golda Meir. Even as a young girl she had great leadership qualities. This fictionalized tale, based on real events, had a great flow and will draw in even the most reluctant readers. Goldieâs generosity and empathy toward others will resonate with the young reader. The artwork, a mix of gouache and collage, had a nice period feel.

Super Adorable, Amazing Children's Book

"Jumble Berry Pie" was so cute. My granddaughter has had us listen to it several times now. This book is the total package. The author is the narrator who happens to be extremely talented and this is definitely one I'd recommend. The music and sound effects are such a funtastic enhancement as well.

Christopher Aslan is multi-talented and I hope to hear more from him. He's on my author AND narrator to watch list. Loved this audiobook!

I love this children's book!

Would you listen to Jumble Berry Pie again? Why?

Yes! I had so much fun listening to this story with my nephews... over and over again.

We giggled and smiled and felt very content. Really a story for everyone who loves pie... as well as a great opportunity to celebrate the message of loving each persons' unique, wonderful expression... whether it turns out as blueberry, strawberry or jumble berry pie :)

The book Sea Island: The Earth -Watchers Series by Lester Ferguson really awakens the curiosity in both children and adults. Going to the Bahamas to help friends restore the exotic Sea Coral Reef speaks volume about friendship. The Sea Island Coral Reef is a large and beautiful reef with diverse marine life. Despite the beauty of the coral reef there are predators all around that also share the same place. The Earth- Watchers find themselves discovering lost secrets on their mission to save the coral reef from illegal hunters. As you read this book you will find your self being taken into the beautiful world of sea creatures and the secrets laying on the ocean floor.

The characters Wild Bill and Old Blue take their readers on an exquisite journey where they learn about sea creatures and where they live in the ocean. Changes come when the two men receive information from the Earth-Watchers about the illegal hunters who kill sharks when they saw a large amount of carcasses on the beach. Readers of all ages should have gotten clear information from the book about preserving the sea creatures as they play an important part in balancing the environment. Kids will learn more about ocean life, the planet we live we call earth and live on, and all the environmental hazards that we face now.

The illustrations are full of color that truly compliments the story. The readers get to learn the names of different creatures and how they look in pictures. This book is great for bedtime story reading and can be read- aloud in a classroom or school library. This is an excellent educational book for young curious readers with a great message. Adults will also benefit from reading this book.

I rate this book 5 stars and encourage parents globally to wake up and take an interest on the issues facing us in the environment.

Today is a good day, and I am so happy

Today is a good day, and I am so happy! Why you ask? Because I got a chance to read the book Sea Island written and illustrated by Lestor Ferguson. This book is in the Earth Watchers series by Lestor Ferguson. So far, I have read two books from this series, and love both of them!

Environmental issues are a real hot topic today, since many of the earth's natural resources are definitely running extremely low. Like for instance, the fish in the oceans are predicted, if things continue as such that the oceans will become over fished and remain without fish in the near future. That sounds horrible, yet it is a fact of life that earthlings have to face. On the other hand, this book not only confronts environmental issues but racial diversity as well. Both of the main characters in this book were of two different racial backgrounds, but they were able to work together and reach many of their goals.
