Be an eagle not an owl! You'll love this book!
I just bought this kindle version today and can't put the book down. I love the chapter about time and the value of it. I'm blown away by Ryan in the aspect that the struggles he faced like being shot at while in high school, to losing his business. You will get hooked by his tenacity, positive outlook in life and his catchy Goya-isms. It's important to smile, have faith and soar with the eagles too! Give the negative naysayer owls something to talk about! Trust me I rarely write reviews but this book is so inspiring that I had to share it! - Anna

Tip The Scale In a Positive Direction
All of us have lives that are that can be measured on a balance scale. All of us have attitudes, some good and others not so good. Or some attitudes are positive and some are negative. For success and happiness we have to strive to add more to the positive side of the balance scale. This can be accomplished by always being positive and surrounding yourself with positive thoughts, friends, and behaviors that think of others as well as ourselves. If we can do that, we can assure ourselves a life of meaning and happiness. Ryan Loweâs book, Get Off Your Attitude, succinctly shows you how to add to that positive side of the scale. Mr. Lowe provides stories, suggestions, and tips on making your life more positive by striving to have a positive attitude. If there are two books I would recommend on developing a positive attitude, I would suggest you buy Get off Your Attitude and then read it twice!

    Publisher's Summary:
The current U.S. Social Security Disability Income system (SSDI) grants benefits for those who cannot continue to earn an income through employment, due to chronic or terminal illnesses they may develop, that disables them physically or mentally. This is certainly a wonderful thing and it has saved many of its recipients from losing their homes and reasonable quality of life for their families and even from losing their lives early, by providing opportunity for continued medical care that would otherwise be impossible for them to obtain.
With this said, there are also those policies practiced or enforced by the social security disability program for example that cause deserving applicants to be denied (the main subject of this audiobook) and in some cases, less-deserving or undeserving applicants to be accepted by the same benefits program. I wish to point out some of these policies, within the chapters of this audiobook but I endeavor to do so, without appearing to be casting dispersions on the SSDI system as a whole, which is a wonderful program and a privilege for disabled citizens.
I sincerely believe it is extremely important for legitimately disabled Americans to be cared for in a country that takes pride in helping those who are less-fortunate - not those who are looking for a free ride or for a chance to scam the system but who are truly and sincerely in need.
It is my sincere hope that the words I offer in this audiobook, contain proper perspective and that nothing contained herein, is perceived as unnecessary ranting on my part but that my thoughts will rather add some intelligent, logical perspective to this very difficult subject.

    A little helpful??
I wish there had been more advice on how to possibly speed up the process or other reasons why it takes so long to get through the process. Personally I feel they deny on purpose so test you'll give up and they won't have to pay you. I also believe that's why so many do is because they can't survive with no income. Sounds like it almost worked in James case.
I feel he was a bit monotone in his reading. Not much reflection in his voice made it hard t keep listening.

Skip Heitzig is one my favorite Pastors who makes listening to the Word easy to hear and to understand. You will enjoy this audio Sermon greatly. He is not as thorough as John Piper but adds his own great brand of knowledge and whimsical humor to get you through this great book of the new Testament.

Prosperity, says Gaines, is our birthright, a divine inheritance that incorporates not just material abundance but also a comprehensive knowledge of the consciousness of God. Gaines, a Unity minister, was once down-at-heel and wondering where the next meal was coming from, but now lives a life of luxury.
She claims that to follow her example, listeners need only put into practice four simple spiritual laws: tithe ten percent of all they earn or receive; set specific financial and spiritual goals; forgive others and themselves daily; and find and commit to a divine purpose.
Gaines is well-schooled in Unity principles and the basic New Thought understanding of the power of positive thinking. Thus, for example, she includes an exercise for listeners to utter no negative words for 21 days and watch, amazed, as their lives are transformed. Some of the book's stories of divine assistance with finances will spark skepticism in even the most credulous of listeners, like Gaines' anecdote about winning a $100 grocery spree immediately after praying for food for her refrigerator.
Gaines' program is clear and her tone endlessly enthusiastic, but many listeners will undoubtedly question her claims of limitless abundance.

Finding Peace and Joy with a Grateful Heart!
This is a wonderful book, full of personal stories about ordinary people that have found God's peace through challenging times by having a grateful heart!
Today happens to be 15 years since my 14 year old son went to Heaven. I really needed this book, especially at this time, to encourage me to be grateful for God's grace. Even though I miss my son today, I am so grateful for the time God lent him to me!
No matter what life is throwing our way, we can have power in Christ through a grateful heart!
Thank you, Shelley Hitz, for writing this awesome book!!! May God continue to bless you!
    I highly recommend this book!
    A Huge Dose of Encouragement
I started reading 21 Stories of Gratitude because I became aware of my own need to be more grateful. Through my own personal tragedies, I lost sight many times of just how blessed I really am. The world is filled with self-centered, selfish, money hungry people who seem to forget about the blessings they already have, which have absolutely nothing to do with material possessions. I would like to be someone who stands apart with a grateful and humble heart towards God.
Reading these stories has awakened me to the fact that there are true heroes and heroines of faith, who decided to trust the Lord no matter what. Their personal sufferings, gripped my heart and gave me a reality check to see just how much most of us already have. Our health, our families, our friends, the ability to be self-sufficient, to enjoy a good meal, or a simple walk outside with those that share our inner circle. That alone should create a well spring of praise to our Lord.
My goal is to be a woman of praise and gratitude continually thanking God in my heart or out loud for all He has done for me, no matter what my circumstances - these stories have been a great catalyst in my quest to show forth my appreciation for my salvation, as I continue to learn and grow in love for our Lord and Savior Jesus in my everyday life. Come quickly Lord Jesus.
    Beautiful stories!
As implied by the title of the book, you will find 21 stories of gratitude within its pages. It was such a joy for me to read each individual story. I found myself excited to discover what the next one would be about as I read along.
By reading this collection, I have deeply been reminded of the things that I have to be grateful for.

    Publisher's Summary:
What is it that separates the doers, leaders, and success stories among us from the dreamers, also-rans, and wannabes? To best-selling author James P. Owen, it's all about having The Try - the quality of giving 110 percent to the task or challenge at hand. In The Try - a dozen true stories of ordinary people who've done extraordinary things across varied fields of endeavorOwen reveals The Try as a character trait that can be forged in several ways. Some of those profiled are driven by a child-hood dream or long-held ambition. Others are fueled by someone else's belief in them, an unwavering belief in themselves, or the urge to pit themselves against daunting odds. Still others find The Try in a life-changing moment when they hit rock bottom or come face-to-face with failure. What all high achievers have in common, Owen believes, is a blend of inner drive, focus, and determination that pushes them to pursue their goals relentlessly, confronting every obstacle, and never, ever giving up. His insightful profiles bring to life new scientific evidence that effort trumps ability. In other words, how much you can achieve depends not on how smart or talented you may be, but instead on the quality of your efforts and how much you try. Owen provides inspiration that will strike a chord with anyone who has a lofty goal, a deep personal ambition, or a major challenge to face. By connecting the dots in this collection of stories, he also delivers practical "how to" advice for those who want to cultivate The Try in themselves, or to encourage someone else on the road to realizing his or her full potential. Owen's conclusion: "If you've got The Try, anything is possible. All it takes...is all you've got."
    Editorial Reviews:
James Owen inspires with stories of relentlessness, vision, fearlessness and resilience. Those are the keys to personal success says Owen, who reinvented himself after 35 years in the corporate world as an author, film producer, social innovator, and creator of the Center for Cowboy Ethics and Leadership. With a direct and plain-spoken tone, Erik Synnestvedt reads the stores of 12 people whose pursuit of childhood dreams, willingness to live up to the belief of others, focus and determination, and refusal to give up exemplify the motivational message that by committing to "the Try" we can all be the heroes in our own lives.

Simple lessons derived from entertaining short stories
The TRY is a great work of inspiration directed towards our youth and containing stories of success attained through a focus on 'American values'. Each story (short stories)runs 3 to 4 pages. As an older adult I enjoyed the book and will be purchasing extra copies to send as Thanksgiving gifts to contemporaries with the suggestion that over the holiday season they forward the book to younger relatives and friends who could perhaps use some motivation and encouragement.
