MLB history as the Milwaukee Brewers throw a combined no-hitter against the Cleveland Indians! That becomes MLB's 9th no-hitter this season a record setting no-hitter for the most no-hitters thrown in a season! Another record also occurred. In their last season under the name the Indians have been no-hit 3 times this season the most by any major league team in one season. Are the Yankees in a slump? The Blue Jays catch fire as they heat quickly and thoroughly as they enter the Wild Card race and challenge the Yankees for the second spot! They are back and in full and high definition! The Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Francisco Giants rivalry is back after what seemed to be a 15 year dormant as they face each other today for the top spot in the NL West division. Playoff races heat up to over a hundred degrees as big teams as the Braves, Astros, Rays, and Reds fend off their spots for a chance at the playoffs, it all comes down to this and at the end of the MLB season of course. For the first time in MLB history two leadoff homers were hit in the same game as Miguel Rojas of the Marlins hit one in the top of the first inning and New York Mets' Jonathan Villar hit one in the bottom of the first. What else a better time to get hot than the end of the season. That's what's happening to the New York Yankees as they have fought and have won 13 straight games and are looking for 14 to tonight. Miguel Cabrera has finally done it he has finally cemented himself in the Hall of Fame in the future as he hits home run number 500, and it was perfect an opposite field home run at the Rogers Centre. The Reds keep battling out the Padres for the NL Wild Card spot but with the Padres hard schedule and the Reds easy schedule, Cincinnati might be back in the playoffs. Jonathan India is just absolutely tearing up the rookie scene and I will only give one word to describe him: ROY. In his first Major League start, Tyler Gilbert threw the eighth no-hitter for MLB this year! This has been the first time since 1956 that a pitcher in his first major league start has thrown a no-hitter! The last one to do it was Bobo Holloman for the St. Louis Browns. The Reds are steadily chasing the Padres for the NL Wild Card as they pull even with them heading into today's game. Walker Buehler has become the frontrunner for the Cy Young! With Yu Darvish's recent injury and Jacob deGrom out for most of the season, Buehler has become the guy to look at for this year's Cy Young. They finally had it, they built it and they came. The Field of Dreams game finally went underway after being cancelled last year and it ended in no better way than a Dream walk-off home run for Tim Anderson. The end of the baseball year approaches as the Dog days of the year set in. Atlanta tries to make a move in the NL East as they are back to a winning record. Chris Davis of the Orioles retires after 13 seasons and the Cubs part ways with Jake Arrieta as they release him. The Reds bullpen still sucks and I have two people they should call up: Dauri Moreta and Nick Howard. If Nick Howard gets called up to Cincinnati in this year I will happily start the Nick Howard fan club cause he has a storied career. I told you in the last episode that I would be back in a matter of three days and here we are! Not much changed from those three days except, my condolences go out to the friends and family of J.R. Richard as the great Astros legend pitcher passed away this week at the age of 71. The NL East heats up in division standings as the Phillies are half a game back of the Mets and they face them tonight! The Braves are back to winning ballgames as they now have an outside chance to win the NL East division. People give the Reds a break, we are having the best season that I can remember in my lifetime and I would love to see them in the playoffs. The Trade Deadline came and went but first without some shakeups in the competition! The Dodgers make in my mind the biggest trade of the year as they land Max Scherzer and Trea Turner from the Nationals in exchange for their top two prospects in Keibert Ruiz and Josiah Gray and also others as well. Closers go to teams with closers already, while no-name relievers go to teams who need closers a.k.a the Cincinnati Reds. Speaking of Cincinnati, Joey Votto wins player of the month as he hit 11 homeruns in July including a stretch of hitting a homerun in 7 consecutive games! Standings shake things up as the Rays take over the AL East and a big Grudge Match rivalry happening in the next couple of days between the Houston Astros and the Los Angeles Dodgers!

When your favorite team drops 5 out of 6 after coming off the All-Star break... that's how we as Reds fans are feeling right now. We steamroll into week number 29 and still no big trades have happened just yet except one. Nelson Cruz along with Calvin Faucher get traded to the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for two right handed pitching prospects, who look to brighten up the Twins future. Cruz says he just wants to be on a championship team... ironic since he signed with the Twins for that very reason. The Giants take two from the Dodgers in their series against them and look to do it again in another series to come. Cleveland has decided on a name for next season and it is the Guardians. For myself I thought that the Americans would be a better name, so from here on out when I refer to Cleveland I will not refer to them as the Guardians but as the Americans. When you make predictions remember that predictions are made to go wrong, that's why everybody's excited when they go right. Well my All-Star Game and Draft predictions all went up in flames this past week and it was absolutely insane. The MLB draft brings some unexpected surprises in the first round and even in the second round! Trade season is upon us already, as a couple of teams, if they want to make a push, are going all in to try to get to the playoffs. Weekly standings don't change much but it will be interesting to see how the MVP totals for the American League turn out to be.
