So this week was time for a Breakaway.   I needed a break from work.   Season 1 was wrapping up.  It was a great time to get away. A  road trip was in order. Thanks to  our Friend Charlie,   a group of us were able to come together this weekend  and hit the road to the some of the best (intentionally) and worsts… (accidentally)  breweries in central Oregon.

Whitmore.  Welcome to Episode 52 of the Strive Seek Find Podcast   I’m excited today.   Last June I challenged myself to do 52 weekly episodes of what would become this podcast.   I’m proud to say. Its been with bonus episodes closer to sixty with the bonus episodes.   Now that I’m done patting myself on my back for the simple accomplishment of being consistent, this week I was reminded by a friend of the importance of disconnecting  from our  communication machine from time to time.    This is can be the same as getting into the hills (if you really do it right or a conscious decision.

 In celebration of episode 51 I’m trying something new. So today is the first step into an experiment.  I’ve been wanting to take the podcast a little more mobile, so at the suggestion of Friend of the show Mike I’ve picked up a new Rhode mic for my phone.   So adventuring has a new companion.    Which today we working through multiple purposes:   seeing if my idea  work in the great outdoors  and  finally getting back to the mountains before I lost my ever loving mind

Welcome to the Strive Seek Find Podcast.   I’m your host  Chance Whitmore.  A lot happened this week.  Early birthdays, concerts,  and work accelerating towards a “slowdown” and more.   It was a  long busy week and I regret nothing though admittedly my rear is dragging.   In the process I ran across a couple opportunities to watch experts in their field  work their magic.   It reminded me of something I had told a friend:   90% of my job is invisible unless you know the job (admittedly there were major caveats in this case).   

 And if you really think about it, for the most part we have a narrow world view when it comes to one another here are just a few examples.

Welcome to the Strive Seek Find Podcast. I’m your host Chance Whitmore.  The old Proverb “timing is everything” has more  uses than any of us can count.   Oftentimes it ends up sounding as cliché  as  the related “Strike while the iron is hot”  Funny thing about clichés though ,  many of them end up being overused in great part because they have a elements of truth in them.   In the past week I had the opportunity to learn this again when I was put in a situation  where the right message  was not enough.  Having the right message at the right time was critical.

Welcome to the Strive Seek Find podcast I’m Chance Whitmore.  As I record this, its Mother’s Day. So I’ll start out with gratitude to my mother and my wife. Both of whom have had to put up with me for much longer than anyone should.  

That being said, sometimes on days like these we  get trapped in narrow definitions and forget how many people truly help us raise our kids.   Hillary Clinton threw out that it “it takes a village” to raise a family.   I don’t truly think  you can even argue.   But today I wanted to acknowledge it

 Farmer’s market it was a wonderful escape prior to yard work today.  Looking for plant starts. Lots of baked & handmade goods. Families strolling in the sun.  Watching the entertainment.   What I didn’t go for was to hear  people  lectured about why their beliefs were a recipe for an express elevator to hell.  Well this got me thinking as I wandered and things got worse.  How so?   Well let’s get started and find out

Welcome to a very special bonus episode of  Strive Seek Find:  Its spring time.   days are getting longer and finally warmer.   Its time for a crisp refreshing go to drink.   Last year during quarantine I worked on my recipe slowly lowering the citrus and growing my appreciation of different gin.   We are dialed in…. and then my culinary Jedi master, Alton Brown  informed me… there is more.  So tonight we are experimenting with my gin tonic recipe  and  share the results.

  I’m good at reminding others to take care of themselves.   I’m less good at actually doing it myself.  I know  that this probably holds true for many of us. Right now, as we are continuing to grind through a world that is still in flux, taking care of yourself is mission critical.  So as we begin to move toward summer, its  important to remind us all of a few parts of this… and hopefully  just hopefully make  taking care of ourselves feel slightly less  shameful.
