  Failure.   A word with so many uses.   From machine breakage “critical failure of a key component”,   to grades “ you failed the class”, it often used as a word to mark as an end rather than any sort of  opportunity for growth.     So while I have been processing this  in my own life I thought I’d share what I hope is a healthy perspective.

Zoom cocktail parties became a think in our house while we were locked in.  It forced us to open up or pallets to different flavors.  And as a staunch believer that Whiskey should be consumed neat this has  been a bit of a struggle for me.  With most of us safe at home for Valentine’s day this year, we thought this would be a  way to spruce up your holiday at home.  So as a treat today, Amy and I thought we would do a tasting of 3 bourbon cocktails , and share the experience with you.

Nostalgia is a tricky thing. You find something you once  loved  and your growth  has the potential  to ruin what you most like  as you look back  and see not what you loved about it , but what you realize is wrong with it.   It can be little things like realizing how poorly written  a favorite story or movie really was.  Or it can be oh so much more.   Today I thought I might walk the path of ‘oh so much more with a favorite from my childhood, the science fiction hero Buck Rogers.

Welcome to the Strive Seek Find Podcast, I’m Chance Whitmore.  Last week due to my job I had the opportunity to get the first dose of my Covid vaccination.   It brought back a question that I have been asking myself on and off for a while now.   What responsibility do we have  for our fellow man?   Just a small question.  To start your day with.. Roll it around in your brain.  What do you owe the people around us? What do they owe us?

  I’ve been feeling a bit locked in as of late between work, projects,  and family illness (thankfully not Covid)  and we have been a bit more “about the house” than I would have preferred the last few months.  Last weekend that changed. Not to the extent I really planned, but a winter road trip adventure . It was just what the doctor ordered for me and more importantly, for the family.

Has anyone else noticed that that as a society we  have  seen a shift  toward wealth as the main definition of accomplishment    and from achievement to building a brand?  Its very much a  “we to me” approach that doesn’t necessarily fit with people growing anything more than a bank account.  Why did we make that switch?  Why is accomplishment  viewed as transactional? What has happened to aspiration and inspiration?

Without a doubt the last 10 months have proved challenging for people worldwide.  Even without major personal tragedy  (which there has been more than enough of for one year),  there are few people who haven’t struggled getting through this year.   In times like these it Is easy to dwell on the negative and let ourselves get ground down during these times.  Today I want to ask you  to think about the flip side:   Despite the struggles and frustration of the past year, what good has come of it?
