JW and Skinny close out the season five with a jam-filled show from Phish in Nashville! Skinny pulls the stub in a return to the OG format. Skinny tells about his country music experience, themes of the show, and colliding with Honky-Tonkers! Thanks so much for listening! See you next season!
Skinny and JW welcome arranger and composer Don Hart to Stub Me Down for Episode 9! Don graciously chats about Trey Anastasio's shows with the National Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops, including the process of taking Phish music to a symphonic format and various setlist choices for the orchestra shows. Don also shares his experiences working with other artists including Maggie Rose and Lyle Lovett. We also get into the Beacon Jams and Don's role in those monumental shows. Thanks so much to Don Hart for his time!
Jw and Skinny welcome T strong from Wook Plus to talk about a great Grateful Dead show from 1995! T talks about television, editing, and pulls the back the curtain on Mr. T and Bill Walton. Hilarious conversation ensues with plenty of statistical analysis and fun! Enjoy! Thanks for listening!
Stub Me Down welcomes in Skinny's old high school buddy Tim Sullivan for Epsiode 8 of Season 5, and boy did they get loose. Tim shares his experiences as a teenage Grateful Dead fan, his extensive knowledge of country music (jw is still skeptical), and pulls a stub from a 1989 Grateful Dead show in Pittsburgh that not everyone got into. Laughs were had, stats were discussed, and another piece of the Skinny puzzle falls into place! Thanks, Tim!
JW and Skinny welcome one of our favorite online personalities "The Vic" to the show! We hang out and discuss a cool farm, community builds, set list games, and a really great show from The Garden State Art Center in 1999. Come for the discussion, be offended, and leave the shit posting to our guest! Thanks for listening!
Skinny and JW welcome in Ryan Eldridge from Maine Cabin Masters for the season 5 episode 5 stub down. Ryan shares his experience at a Phish show filled with rarities from 2010, including a very special second set tribute to the recently passed Gregory Isaacs. This entertaining conversation includes a pop-in visit by Ryan's wife Ashley, a discussion of strange things found in old camps Ryan and the Maine Cabin Masters crew have encountered, and the power of the t-shirt! Thanks so much to Ryan for his time, and be sure to check out Maine Cabin Masters on Magnolia TV and Hulu!
The fellas are joined by JW's old buddy Hal Hansen from their college days! They take a look at a 95 Phish show from Waterloo Village in their home state of New Jersey. College, riding the back of the bus, baseball, Gamehendge, and other worlds collide in our conversation with Hal. Thanks for listening!
Well this is cool! Skinny and JW welcome killer bassist Karina Rykman to Stub Me Down for the 3rd episode of Season 5. Before she heads back out on the road, Karina graciously dropped in to chat about her debut album Joyride, performing at Peach Festival and some of her early music projects. She shares some wisdom she picked up from Trey Anastasio, who helped Karina produce Joyride and contributed guitar to several tracks. Karina's unbounded exuberance shines through as she shares what she learned playing with Marco Benevento and how she has brought those lessons forward with her current bandmates Adam November (guitar) and Chris Corsico (drums). Karina's humility and gratitude are readily apparent as she considers her professional progress and looks forward to a busy 2024. She even shares a warning about the dangers of post-show baths! Be sure to check out Joyride and catch Karina this February in the midwest! Thanks so much to Karina for her time!
