This week’s episode will be a little different. Join us as we look back on the past year. We will share our favorite memories, and individual growth we have experienced throughout the last year. We will discuss our goals for the next year, and the changes we have decided to make for this upcoming year.

Our Off the Rails this week will also be different. In our discussion we talk about some of the compilations that we started to create at the beginning of our journey. We will be sharing with you the Who’s on First file, which is an in back of the scenes look at the challenges of starting different segments, the Fuckity Fuck Fuck file, which is outtakes of us swearing, Laughter Is The Best Medicine, which is a recording of some of the laughter we have shared, and Thank you, which documents some of the difficulties we had ending some of our Episodes.

Our Check-In this week centers around Lorri’s loss of her aunt. The loss of any family member is tragic and brings up memories, analyzing of the lessons we learned from the person, and sometimes questions and assessment. With the passing of her aunt, Lorri finds herself not only in grief but also realizing that her generation is now the oldest generation. Jason shares his experiences of the same realization. Together we discuss this along with some of the other memories and feelings that Lorri is going through.

Our Deep Dive this week, is all about the book “The Fourth Turning” by William Strauss and Neil Howe. The book, which is introduced to us by Jason, talks about viewing time and history as cyclical rather than linear time. Through this, they have been able to find patterns that not only explain what is going on today but also how we got here. Lead by four Archetype generations, the book goes through each cycle, each lasting between 80 and 100 years, and gives examples from world history and US history.

In this week’s Off The Rails, we delve into some really strange sex laws. Join us on the humorous adventure across the United States and some bizarre laws around sex. From public fornication of animals to outlawing sex toys.

In this week’s Check-In Lorri starts us off by telling us of her depression through this winter. We discover that her depression is caused, not just by the winter, but also by COVID. This realization opens a conversation about coping, and anger that she has been trying to suppress. These moments and feelings are shared by many and we discuss how to work through them and be with them.

This week’s Deep Dive is a deeper look at medical trauma. Inspired by last week's realization that he had suffered medical trauma at an early age, Edward investigated, not only his own experiences but also the subject as a whole. Join us as we discuss medical trauma, how it looks, where it comes from, and how we can cope with it.

In Honor of April Fools Day, our Off the Rails is all about great practical jokes from history. Lorri shares with us a list of some of the funniest practical jokes that she could find from years gone by.

This week’s Check-In starts off with Jason sharing about his experience with a kidney stone. As a trauma survivor who checks out of his body, he describes what he has been going through and how he has been dealing with it. As Lorri and Edward join the discussion and start sharing some of their experiences, Edward shares a story that he has not given a second thought of. Lorri and Jason react to his story with shock at his indifference as he relays a story that he had not identified as trauma.

Our Deep Dive delves into behavior. Jason is reading a book called “Behave” by Robert Sapolsky, which takes an in-depth look at the sources of behavior. Far deeper than Nurture VS. Nature, the book tracks behavioral sources down past the chemical level through your heritage and your genes and DNA. This opens a discussion about self-awareness, self-sabotage, and self-judgment around our behaviors.

We discover that this is a DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) technique that is used in behavior, but that Edward has also been using with intrinsic values and world views to discover his authentic self.

In our Off the Rails this week, we discuss cereal wars. Our memories of our favorite cereals turn into horror stories about breakfast cereals. Then into strange things we have eaten. From there we really go off the rails with stories about mealworms, crickets, scorpions, and more.

Our Deep Dive This week starts out with a conversation about the Inauguration. We evolve the conversation into a space where we call ourselves on our perceptions and talk about the differing perceptions of women and me in authority. In a non-political way we discuss Hillary Clinton as an example of what it is like surviving in a male dominated career path.

Our off the Rails this week is a follow up from last week. Edward tries on corduroys for the first time in over 25 years. It’s a humorous act of enlightenment and discovery as Edward relives some of his past but also reconciles who he is today.

This week we start off with Jason for our Check-In. Jason has shared with us in the past that he has a recurring nightmare. Every time he has had the nightmare it has been basically the same. This week Jason shares with us how his nightmare has changed. Instead of starring his wife, it stars his biological mother. We talk about this breakthrough and what it means for him and the work he is doing around abandonment.

In our Deep Dive this week Edward has recently come across the idea of Revenge Sleep Procrastination. Edward often deals with this challenge at bedtime and relates his experiences, where it often comes from, and how he is starting to work on it. Jason and Lorri ask questions and relate their own stories of similar experiences and we come up with more ideas of how to address this “more common than we realize” affliction.

This week's Off the Rails is a blast from the past! We revisit vintage trends that we remember from our youth that are making a comeback. From there we are reminded of stories and situations in our lives that really are quite humorous to look back on.

Our Check-In this week delves into the world of obsessive intrusive thoughts. Jason’s Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is very much a type called Pure O or Purely Obsessive. This week Jason has been obsessing over his health in an unhealthy way. Battling with a bombardment of intrusive thoughts is exhausting. We discuss some coping strategies and our experiences with these thoughts and the spirals that can result from them.

In this week’s Deep Dive Lorri brings the subject of Hypersensitivity to the table. We talk about how some people are born hypersensitive, while others come to it through traumatic experiences.  We discuss it’s pros and cons as well as how to work and live with it. We discuss desensitization therapy and other coping strategies to work and live with Hypersensitivity when it becomes overwhelming.

In past Off the Rails, we’ve brought up awkward moments but this week we share some personal embarrassing stories that we also learned from.

Edward starts us off this week as he discusses his need for time off. Edward understands that he needs a vacation but is reluctant due to situations at work. Through discussion, Edward starts to understand that he is letting his survival-self dictate his actions around asking for time off. He wants to make sure it is the right time for everyone but himself. In the end, we bring it back to boundaries and not taking on other people’s roles, responsibilities, and reactions.

In our Deep Dive this week we delve into the relationships we have with Narcissists. Why we might attract them or be attracted to them. Understanding why this relationship is often so comfortable and easy to slip into is one way of working through our past trauma and our present wants and needs. We discuss our experiences in this area as well as some warning signs to look out for and some techniques to avoid these types of relationships.

Off The Rails with Blue Laws!!! We discuss blue laws and their origins in this look at how funny some of our oldest state laws seem from today's perspective.
