This piece of jewellery, worn on the neck and chest, comes from the Old Mataram Kingdom in the ninth century. By these beautiful decorations, we can assume that the owner was of noble stature. They wore jewellery to demonstrate their social status, not only because it was pleasing to the eye.

This inscription was found in three separate locations in Malang, East Java. It tells of the first Hindu kingdom in East Java, and its king, Gajayana, who reigned during the eighth century.
