We hear from VIRY MARTINO, who has led major projects such as the San Diego International Airport Terminal 1 (about to open in September 2025), The Cross Border Xpress (Bridge connecting the Tijuana Airport with Otay Mesa in the US). Her career at Turner Construction Company began before graduating USC; it was due to her engagement and participation in SHPE convention.

She has a Masters in Construction Engineering Management and a Civil Engineering degree. She shares her path as a young college student going from Instituto Tecnologico de Tijuana to Southwestern Community College leading to USC!!! The very important role SHPE played from a very early stage at Southwestern led to major success through USC as well; she is now reconnecting with this major organization back in San Diego.

Her mentors are Lori Ann Stevens, Raga Bakhiet (previous MESA director at Southwestern Community College)
