Do you know how to WIN?

What does it stand for? How are you going to WIN? To Get the Gold and not settle for silver?!

Win: What is Important Now?

3 Ps to WIN:

You have to LOVE to win! Love an advantage ahead of the competition!

Identify, to the nth degree, what is important now. Not what you missed yesterday, not what you haven’t done yet (future) 

What is important now, at this moment? (be present and laser focus on that one thing)

• Patience - (we live in a want-it-now society) to not stray, to stay focused on that one thing!  (patience with tempo, your team, competitors, your clients, and most importantly, with YOU! Breathing also helps!
• Practice with a Purpose. Ex: discuss detail and percentages used in purposeful golf practice
• Plan & Be Methodical - Plan out everything with a benchmark to beat the odds, to beat the competition, to get the competition to chase YOU as the winner, as the leader!

Follow each of these three keys, and you will also be able to handle the pressure that comes your way! Why? You are prepared; you have stayed with your purpose and plan to win! Go for the gold!

In today’s episode of Mindset Monday with Andree Martin on the Success InSight Podcast, we chat about how to be solution minded and get an edge on the competition.

Key points include:

What do you dwell on? Where does your attention go?

Problem: Wine or complain to your partner, teammate, or boss?    

Solution: Come with an answer or alternatives instead 

Instead of playing the Blame Game - The Victim Mentality, look for and find a solution. Find a solution. How can you be the solution?

How can you convert uncertainty and flip it into certainty?   Look for what is needed or where help can come from. From you, your partner, or your team

Out on the course, how can you get creative with your shot options when you’re in a tough position or hazard?

Plan > Believe > Achieve

Instead of saying, “we don’t have,” flip it to “what if you did have”? 

Get curious about what would happen

Instead of “I can’t,” create  a Plan > Believe > Achieve

How can you lead yourself and your team?

1. You must endure no matter what to believe and achieve
2. Never let yourself get broken 
3. Have love and respect for yourself
4. A winner never quits, and a quitter never wins
5. To overcome anything, be committed, be hearty (inside). 

You can overcome anything and gain more respect for yourself and what you are doing; discover what is possible for you going forward to stay in the game!

• Unstoppable
• Inner awareness without outer chatter affecting them

Hit your peak to win

• Each of these first five letters (Count on them, Lead Strong, Unbreakable Stride, Tough as Nails, Chime into the zone)
• Creates a stride to Peak to Win!
• With momentum, direction, energy, and focus, to not only hit your peak
• Assurance to Get the Gold! There was never settle for silver, they Get the Gold!

It is time to Review:

1.     Re-assess

• Check numbers (run the percentages check ex:68% short game 30-40% putting based on ability)
• Change, tweak equipment (Shaft shift, bounce in the wedge for increased performance), or keep it as is? (In a sales field same applies to products or intangibles) It is the product you are using or selling for ROI

2. Re-tune, Re-tool

• Refine
• Revamp

3. Run the plays as is or re-direct

4. Re-direct with a better plan of attack

• Check stats
• Check performance under pressure
• Sustainability to crush it and reach the gold!

5. Ramp back up

Our guest today is Tom Miller, Award-winning Author about the U.S. borderland and Latin America.

Tom has been writing about conflict and culture in the Americas for close to 50 years. His books include On the Border, an account of his travels along the U.S. and Mexico frontier; The Panama Hat Trail about South America; Trading With the Enemy, which takes readers on his journeys through Cuba; and, Revenge of the Saguaro, about the American Southwest, 

Tom has received numerous literary awards and official honors. In 2008 he was honored in a ceremony in the Centro Histórico of Quito, with a proclamation designating him a "Huésped Ilustre de Quito" (Illustrious Guest of Quito) for his literary contribution to Ecuador, especially "The Panama Hat Trail."

Tom’s latest work, Where Was I? A Travel Writer's Memoir was published this year.

Aha Moment

After slowly traveling the 2,000-mile U.S.-Mexico  border zig-zagging back & forth between countries, I thought -- "Aha! There is a skinny 3rd country between the two larger countries. Much of my work since then has incorporated this notion.

1. There are 2 treatments floating around Hollywood that deserve attention. One is about Wolfman Jack, and the other is about 3 Mexican Campesinos who were tortured by ranchers as they crossed into the U.S. I can't get either story out of my head and I'd be pleased to be associated with either one.
