  • Likky Lavji on the Success, Motivation & Inspiration podcast
Likky Lavji, is known as “The Blind Spot Navigator” and he’s a renowned keynote speaker. Likky helps people and organizations discover their blind spots to power performance. With over 25 years of entrepreneurial experience, Likky Lavji has been acknowledged by leading organizations, including Lenovo Canada, Ingram Micro, Royal Bank of Canada for his ability to redefine networking and his innovative approach to conducting business, giving value to others and showing people the tools to overcome barriers.
Below are some insights from Likky Lavji. Enjoy!
What is your personal definition of success?

    * Success is a myriad of things that come into play:
Having real personal self-awareness of how your actions and behaviors affect others and how it affects your performance. In other words, having awareness of your BS, or as I like to call it, your blind spots
    * Having a real sense of your core values and beliefs and staying true to them. If you are a leader in an organization the core values and beliefs should be the guiding beacon to everything the organization does. And it is so important that the whole of the organization is aligned with those core values, its what keeps the company focused and moving forward.
    * Having the ability to empower and impact people’s lives by giving value. Every individual by design of nature, whether it be your customers, your employees, your co-workers, they each have a desire to feel valued and connected.

When you can serve others by offering empathy, appreciation, consistency, & excellence, you build human connection and trust. These are the fundamental principles that build your individual uniqueness and unifies organizations. It also builds trust with your customers to a point where they no longer see you as a means to an end but as someone who creates an impact beyond a transaction.
Can you share the steps you take daily to improve?
Every morning I align my thoughts and do self-check-in. I ask my self what are the 2-3 small success I can do to impact others and provide value.
I also do a check-in throughout the day asking myself what Is my purpose for today, am I staying on course to my values and beliefs? For example before having a call with a client, or conference organizers I ask myself who are the people I am going to serve and what are their struggles and wants? What are the things I know I do really well that can best serve them?
I am always trying to improve on my listening skills of when others are communicating to me, its the mindfulness of bringing your mind to be clear of any background thoughts and being fully present and trying to build a connection with others.
What is your advice for someone making an important decision?
    1. You must know your passion and purpose. Ask yourself these questions: The decision I am making it today, is it going to be meaningful? Will it give me fulfillment or momentary happiness. You see, fulfillment hits your inner core. It’s the thing that tells you your actions have impacted you in a way that brings outcomes to serve others. Studies have shown we are the happiest when we serve others. People function better from the gratification of serving others. My heritage is Indian and if you were to ask an Indian what is the true purpose of your life? He will likely say “seva” which is the Indian term for serving others.
    2. Always look at your core values and beliefs. Ask your self the decision I am making does it align with my core values and beliefs? If it doesn’t and you still make that decision, somewhere down the line the misalignment from your decision and your core values and beliefs will show up. Whether it be lack of motivation, not feeling fulfilled, dreading the choice you made, etc.
Tell me about a specific moment that set you on the path you’re on now?

  • Dr. Jesse O. Bolinger on the Success, Motivation & Inspiration podcast
Dr. Jesse O. Bolinger was born with Hydrocephalus, resulting in legal blindness. The prognosis was esentially that he would never walk, talk or be educated.
Instead, Dr. Bolinger’s parents did everything to ensure that he could do anything he wanted. Jesse went on to earn a BA, MS, and Ph.D. His new book is titled, “Calling all volunteers: New ideas for recruiting and managing” has just been released, and another book is on the way. Dr. Bolinger enjoys finding a problem and solving it and using his “disability” as a tool to change lives.
Below are some insights from Dr. Jesse O. Bolinger. Enjoy!
What is your personal definition of success?
I define success as the achievement of one’s own life goals including, but not limited to attainment of education, work, and positive mental health.
Can you share the steps you take daily to improve?
    1. Get up early.
    2. Review my daily schedule and needs of others for the day.
    3. Get updates on the new.
    4. Read articles and books that provide me with new knowledge.
What is your advice for someone making an important decision?
When making an important decision, it is vital to have all the information possible regarding the decision and/or similar decisions. It is vital to consult with others who have made similar decisions so you understand the potential outcomes. I strongly recommend visiting with people who may be against the decision you want to make. By listening to their ideas and arguments you will be able to find parts of the issue that you may have otherwise missed.
Tell me about a specific moment that set you on the path you’re on now?
When I was young, I believe around six months old, the Area Education Agency came to visit my home to introduce themselves and begin working with me in terms of speech and other various developmental skills. The area education agency is a system in Iowa that provides educational services to schools and through in-home early intervention services. This early intervention set me on the course for a positive relationship with the AEA and created positive relationships throughout my educational journey.

    * Habits and Attitudes by Lance Casazza

Which character traits do you value most?
    Kindness, integrity, loyalty, communication, open-mindedness.
How do you push through tough times?
I utilize the tough times to learn and make myself stronger. I let the hardest times be the biggest teacher and look for the silver lining in the most difficult situation.
    What inspires you?
I am inspired by service to others and the betterment of my community.
How do you manage and prioritize opportunities?
I prioritize based on deadlines but also based on my ideas for the project. I do not believe in multi-tasking and only work on one thing at a time. Know that i work best this way helps me schedule my work. I also prioritize by utilizing a calendar. I do not make “to do” lists, instead, I schedule everything I need to do on a calendar as if it was an appointment.
What advice would you give to your 18-year-old self?
Keep moving, do everything you want to do and do not let anyone sidetrack you. Keep your goals posted in multiple places so you do not get sidetracked. Do not do anything that feels like it may be wrong.

Being able to provide for yourself, and any loved ones, through self-employment or passion.
Can you share the steps you take daily to improve?

    1. Respond to customer issues – provide value
    2. Provide free support – help others get what they want
    3. Learn something new
    4. Provide service as best as I can – can I do better?
What is your advice for someone making an important decision?
What is your “gut” feeling? Investigate further then act accordingly.
Tell me about a specific moment that set you on the path you’re on now?
I was 21 years old (in 1981) working a full-time job and wanting to become self-employed. My dad had recently passed away. He was a school janitor who “moonlighted” doing various odd jobs such as cutting grass and shoveling snow. He also cleaned up litter outside a nearby shopping plaza. I didn’t go to college, have much money or skills, but inherited my dad’s work ethic. I decided to start a parking lot litter cleaning business, to honor my father’s legacy, and see how successful it would become.

Mitch is a business attorney with more than 25 years of experience working with small business owners, entrepreneurs and professionals. He advises businesses through all phases of operation including start-up, business development and the legal aspects of running a business.
Mitch runs his own corporate and business advisory practice in Cranford, New Jersey. He often speaks at workshops and is the host of his own podcast: “The Accidental Entrepreneur” which focuses on helping business owners achieve success on purpose, not by accident. Welcome, Mitch!
Below are some insights from Mitchell Beinhaker. Enjoy!
What is your personal definition of success?
I define success as being able to create some financial freedom while doing things that you love and are good at. This will vary from person to person depending on their personal needs and wants, financial situation, and areas of interest.
Can you share the steps you take daily to improve?
I try to make one new connection per day to grow my personal network. This might be a personal meeting or an online connection. But I want to meet or be introduced to someone I can add to my mailing list and introduce them to my “world”.
Tell me about a specific moment that set you on the path you’re on now?
I’ve always had an interest in business and entrepreneurship. I don’t know if there was any single particular moment, but I have always gravitated to running my own practice or even being entrepreneurial in a corporate position. As a lawyer, I’ve always considered myself more as a business person than a legal professional.
