In this post, you'll learn the different sections of LinkedIn and how to edit them to attract the right leads to your profile.

    About LinkedIn

If you are one of my regular readers or listeners you'll understand the importance of looking at the history or background of social media platforms.

Did you know that LinkedIn is a professional networking site that launched as a company back in 2003?

It feels like it was always there as a company but it is only older than Facebook by 1 year.

There are around 750 million registered users of the LinkedIn platform across 200 countries.

What's even more interesting is that the key revenue generator of LinkedIn is selling information about its LinkedIn members.

Earlier this year I also created a resource about Facebook and its revenue generation.

You can take a look at how Facebook generates 28.5 billion dollars here.

The sad truth is that LinkedIn became a subsidiary of Microsoft back in 2016.

In case you are wondering how much revenue LinkedIn generates it is 10 billion dollars a year.

There are over 20,000 people working at LinkedIn and their IPO occurred back in January 2011.

    LinkedIn Sections

So, let's spend some time looking at the various sections in your personal profile on LinkedIn.

There are several sections that make up your profile page.

    Top Section

At the very top of your profile, you'll have the following details.

    * Name* Title/role* Current company* Country* Total Connections* Banner* LinkedIn Profile picture

As you can see in the above image all of these items are essential in order to paint a picture or tell a story about yourself.

    About

The about section or LinkedIn summary gives your potential employer or client some more information about you.

It is also a great place to talk about what you can bring to the table and the results you achieved for your clients.

Remember that this is only a summary of your skills.

    Work Experience

The next section is about your actual projects at each company or client where you executed tasks in order to achieve goals.

Because posting on social media feels like a constant content hamster wheel.

It is imperative for you to find a way to remain authentic but still post regularly.

Here are some of the potential challenges that you might be facing.

Creating pretty social media graphics is not in your zone of genius.

Remembering to post on social media every day is a struggle.

So far, your social media content has been inconsistent.

You dread facing the notorious 'B' blank screen so you don't even try.

In this post, you'll learn how to use MeetEdgar to achieve all your social media promotion goals.

    Social Media Posting Times

One of the most important questions on the lips of most small businesses is when is the best time to post on social media.

As you can imagine there are several social networks that are useful.

Each of them requiring different posting frequencies in order to achieve your desired reach.

    Facebook

According to Sprout Social, the best times to post on Facebook is Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday between 9 am and 1 pm.

Of course, this doesn't mean that if you post on other days or times you will not get results.

It also doesn't mean that you should experiment with your content.

    Instagram

However, the same source has said that the best days to post on Instagram are Monday through Friday at 11 am.

As you already know Instagram has 5 different areas so you'll get more reach if you post to IGTV, IG Reels, Stories, the IG feed and Go Live.

This is especially useful if you decide to do an IG takeover on the same day.

    Twitter

When it comes to posting on Twitter, the folks at Hootsuite have suggested that the best posting times are Monday and Thursday at 8 am.

They've also said that 25% of Americans check Twitter several times a day.

What they failed to disclose is that in order to get seen on Twitter you'll need to post between 5-22 times a day.

    LinkedIn

Of all the social media networks LinkedIn appears to be the most strict of them all.

However, I must mention here that in order to gain traction on the platform consider creating content in the edutainment category.

The best posting times for LinkedIn is 9 am Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

While all these suggestions are great it is important to look at the data in the analytics section of your social media platform.

It is there that you'll discover the best time to post based on the interaction of your audience.

Starting a podcast is still quite new when compared to blogging.

At every turn you see people like you publishing episodes weekly.

You frequently binge-listen to podcasts daily to get inspired.

However, you haven't managed to find a creative name for your podcast.

Let me know if you can relate to these.

    * You know roughly what your show is about* You've got a list of podcast guests already lined up* The best name for your podcast needs to be exciting* There's a fear that you might run out of topics* You're unable to create the podcast graphic until you name your show

If only there was a way to quickly choose a good name in the next few weeks so that you can launch your podcast.

In this post, you'll learn a few clever hacks to successfully name your podcast and record your 1st episode quickly.

    Podcasting Revenue Statistics

There's so much hype around starting a podcast because it is such a versatile piece of content to consume.

Also, because there are so many people generating an income from podcasting alone.

Let's take a look at the top 5 highest earning podcast shows for a minute.

Highest earning podcasts worldwide in 2019 - Statista

So, according to the folks at Statista, the highest-earning podcast show back in 2019 was The Joe Rogan Experience.

With total revenue of $30 million annually that is not something to dismiss readily at all.

What I find amusing is that the podcast show in 5th place is The Bill Simmons Podcast.

Are you wondering why I find it amusing?

Well, look at the descriptive names of the shows and you'll understand why.

If you have an existing audience on your social media accounts or elsewhere it's a good idea to survey them.

However, if you don't have an existing audience, here are some questions for you.

    * What problem is your show trying to solve?* Who are the people with this problem?* Will your show solve 3 levels of pain?* What kind of transformation can your listeners expect?* Do your potential listeners experience other associated problems?* How can you make your show more shareable?* What's the expected length of each episode?

These questions help you to dig a little deeper into the life of your audience.

For example, if you are doing a property podcast about buying your first house.

You'll be able to talk about all the associated challenges like finding remote work, buying a low-cost vehicle, saving for a mortgage, low maintenance gardens, etc.

Another example is my podcast focuses on digital marketing but I create episodes on mindset,

  • Marketing vs Sales: What’s the Difference Between Them

If you are an entrepreneur or small business owner, it is easy to see why there's some confusion when looking at marketing vs sales.

While both areas are crucial to any business it is important to understand the activities associated with each one.

Traditionally, the thought of selling makes the average person cringe.

The reason for this is that certain salespeople have created a bad reputation in the mind of buyers.

Most people associate selling with the typical car or insurance salesperson.

While this is unfortunate, here are some things you need to know for your business.

    * What does a marketing person do?* Does your business need marketing?* Can you market without a budget?* What does a salesperson do?* Is this person essential for your business?* Can any business survive without sales and marketing?

While you may know the answers to some of these questions, you must understand the importance of each one for business growth.

In this post, you'll learn all about sales vs marketing as well as the first person you need to hire as your business grows (spoiler alert: it's not what you think).

    What is Sales?

According to Wikipedia, sales is the activity related to selling or the number of goods sold in a specific time period.

In one sense this can be accurate but to be fair marketing is indirectly related to selling.

I want you to think of the last item you purchased this week and you'll come to an interesting realisation.

Many of us buy without the help of a salesperson.

This is because most items with a price tag below $500 can be purchased online without direct contact with a person.

I'm sure that no one tapped you on the shoulder to ask you to shop at your local supermarket.

If you buy gifts, clothes or household accessories online, there is generally no contact with a person.

Are you now wondering what motivated you to make a purchase?

The answer to that question may lie in the definition of marketing.

    What is Marketing?

So, because we got the definition of the sales from Wikipedia let's check them again for their take on marketing.

According to Wikipedia marketing is the activities that a company does to promote the buying and selling of their products or services.

    Wait, what?

Yes, marketing promotes buying and selling. So, in one sense marketing involves sales.

Another way to look at it is marketing results in sales.

A marketing person is targeted with revenue outcomes.

So, everything that a marketer does must result in an action. If there is no action then that person is not accomplishing their job.

Let's go back to the analogy of you going to the supermarket to buy something like bread.

You get to the bread aisle and there are 50 different brands and types of bread.

Why do you choose to buy one compared to another?

It could be the taste, packaging, diet, price or an advertisement that you saw somewhere.

Do you understand now why marketing is so powerful?

  • How to Add a Logo to Your Video In Minutes [3 Simple Ways]

As video marketing becomes more and more popular you're probably wondering how to keep your content on brand and add a logo to your video.

What's interesting is that it depends on where you are editing and publishing the video.

When it comes to video marketing, you'll soon realise that every social media platform has different video format requirements.

Another consideration is, what you will be using to create your video.

Let me know if you can relate to any of these concerns.

Instagram has 4 different areas for videos with each requiring specific dimensions so adding a logo can be tedious.

Facebook has two main video types (pre-recorded +live) but adding a logo to live video can be a challenge.

LinkedIn and Twitter have challenges very similar to Facebook.

YouTube requires so much optimisation that it would be great to have logos set up as a default.

If only there was a way to overcome all these challenges and brand all video content on social media without another level of complexity.

In this post, you'll learn how to add a logo to your videos for each social media platform with the least amount of hassle possible.

    Why Branding is Important

In case you are new to the world of branding, it is important to address why branding is needed for your small business.

One of the key concepts that many entrepreneurs and small business owners get wrong is branding equals a logo.

In fact, there are multiple elements to your brand including:

    * Messaging* Elements* Experience* Promise

    Messaging

Brand messaging involves the words that you will use when you communicate with your audience as well as the words you'll never use.

    Elements

Your brand elements include your brand colours, logos, tagline, accessories and images that depict the emotion of the brand.

    Experience

When it comes to experience it is focused on how your clients and audience feel when they interact with your brand.

    Promise

A very important consideration is having a brand promise which dictates what you plan to deliver to your clients. Your brand promise is closely aligned with your vision and mission.

Branding is important because it helps your potential audience connect with you and get to know, like and trust you.

Wow!! Just when you thought that branding only focused on having a logo and a few key colours it is so much more.

    5 Logo Types

Another key consideration is ensuring that you have a variety of logos that you can use across different platforms.

For example, the logo that you have on your website may be too big and cumbersome to be used as a watermark on videos.

This is why it is important to have between 5-7 logos of your brand that you can quickly use at short notice.

    These logo variations include:

    * A mascot* Lettermark* Wordmark* Submark* Emblem* Black and white version* Logo with tagline

Did you know that all these different types of logos existed?

    Mascot

This one is pretty obvious and in case you're wondering, I don't have one just yet because I cannot think of one that will represent my brand.

    Video Marketing Statistics

One of the keys to help you decide on whether or not you should invest in a video marketing strategy for your business is statistics.

So, let's spend some time looking at the facts.

89% of video marketers plan to include YouTube in their video marketing strategy.

When it comes to lead generation 84% of video marketers say that video marketing has been effective.

A surprising statistic when it comes to the current global crisis is that 91% of marketers feel that video is even more important now than ever.

Video viewers claim that they retain 95% of a message that they obtained via video.

Also, 70% of viewers say that they become aware of new brands via YouTube.

    Video Syndication

Before diving into video creation hacks and YouTube defaults let's spend some looking at video syndication.

While creating 52 weeks of content for your YouTube channel may sound intimidating.

There's one key factor that will make it worthwhile.

That key factor is video syndication.

  • How to Post Multiple Videos on Instagram [Create Videos in a Flash]

As someone who works with several social media clients, it always surprises me when they are unaware that they can post multiple videos on Instagram.

You are probably aware of the recent announcement from the head of Instagram.

Where he said that Instagram as an organisation will be moving more towards video content.

This has caused a little bit of a panic among several small business owners.

Since creating videos requires a lot more effort on their path.

Let me know if this sounds familiar.

While creating videos is a lot of fun.

The time it takes to create videos is a lot longer than image creation.

Video requires getting dressed up to show up on camera.

Other shorter videos require a bit of humour to get engagement.

In this post, you'll learn 5 clever ways to create videos fast as well as how to post multiple videos on Instagram.

    4 Instagram Video Locations

Before diving into the tips on video creation, let's first look at where you can post videos on Instagram.

If you are a regular user of the Instagram platform these 4 locations will not surprise you.

    * Instagram Feed* IGTV* Reels* Instagram Stories

Let's look at each area in a little bit of detail in terms of the standard requirements like video lengths and sizes.

    Instagram Feed

When Instagram was first launched back in 2010 by Kevin Systrom, it came on the market as a photo-sharing app.

As time went on videos were allowed as well.

However, it wasn't until 2017 before users were able to share a mix of photos and videos in feed posts using the newly created carousel feature.

As we are specifically focused on video the requirements to publish a video in your IG feed are as follows:

    * Format - MP4* Longest video length - 60 seconds* Max file size - 15MB* Maximum width - 1080 pixels* Frame rate - 30 FPS* H.264 codec* AAC audio* 3500 kbps bitrate

Bear in mind that you can publish a mix of photos and videos in your Instagram feed.

    IGTV

I still find this difficult to believe but did you know that IGTV was only launched on Instagram in June of 2018?

It feels like it is an application that has been available to the public for a much longer time period.

In a similar fashion to the IG feed, IGTV has its own set of requirements.

    * Aspect Ratio - 9:16 (preferred) and 16:9* 10 Minute Video - Max 650MB* Maximum length - 15 minutes from mobile, 60 minutes from the web* Max File size - 3.5GB* You can add a link in the description or caption* These videos don't expire* File format - MP4* Pre-recorded videos are fine

What's great about IGTV is that you can create longer videos which means that the video creation experience is less stressful.

When you go live on Instagram you can save the live video as an IGTV post and it will be displayed as a regular Instagram post.

One of the best ways to create content consistently is to develop an IGTV series.

    Reels

The most recent addition or new feature to the Instagram video family is Reels.

If you are a TikTok user then Reels will be easy for you to use.

However, if delivering short messages is not your thing,

  • How to Put Emojis On Instagram [And Space Your Captions]

The first time I tried to publish a post on Instagram was painful because I did not know how to put emojis on Instagram.

In fact, not adding spaces between the lines of text and making my text fancy made me feel intimidated.

If I'm honest it took me a long time to decide that Instagram was a place for me to promote my business.

You see, a few years ago IG was this place full of influencers making 6-figures per post.

It was also this place full of perfect, colour coordinated grids full of amazing travel and food photos.

However, something happened, it seems as if the peer pressure and mental fatigue made that bubble pop.

A few unfortunate incidents made the public realise that these pretty photos are not really what they appeared to be.

Does it mean that Instagram is a bad place? Definitely not.

In a recent video from the head of Instagram, he revealed how things are starting to change on the platform.

He mentioned that there will be a heavier emphasis on videos due to mounting pressure from TikTok and others.

There will still be a need for captions, emojis and subtitles since the space of 2,200 characters need to be filled.

In this post, you'll learn how to add emojis, fancy text and line spacing in your captions to make it user friendly for your followers.

5 Instagram Tips That You Need to Know

Before diving into the step by step guide on how to put emojis on Instagram, let's look at 5 hacks or bonus features you never knew existed.

    1. Adding Longer Videos to Your Feed

Did you know that it is possible to add longer videos to your Instagram feed? Currently, the limit to adding a single video is 59 seconds.

However, if take a longer video and break it into two 59 second videos you'll be able to upload it as a carousel post.

    2. Auto-posting to IG Stories

One of the hardest areas of IG for me when I first started was Instagram Stories. I was super annoyed because it took 20-30 minutes to post a single story.

Now, thanks to the Facebook Business Suite I can schedule 2-3 weeks of Stories and get on with the rest of my life.

    3. Recycling Story Posts

Have you ever wanted to recycle your Instagram Story posts but you felt kind of stuck on how to get it done?

All you need to do is head over to your archives using the hamburger menu on the top right.

Click on archives and you'll see the calendar icon. When you click on that you'll be able to see your past post in reverse chronological order.

Simply choose the post you want and click save the photo or video to your camera roll.

    4. Hiding IGTV or Reels From Your Feed

If you ever created Reels or IGTV videos you'll probably find that it messes up your feed aesthetics.

One thing that you can do to restore your grid is just to remove that post from your IG feed.

Simply click the 3 dots on that post and you'll see the option to remove it from your feed.

Creating a cover for your IGTV or Reels post is another way to restore the aesthetics of your IG grid.

    5. Easiest Way Adding Subtitles to Your Story Posts
