Have you ever started to do something and it seemed as if God wasn’t there at that moment? Sometimes God wants us to stand still and simply wait for Him to move. It has been said that patience is not the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting. In our story, the prophet Elisha has died and Israel and Judah must go on and fight the combined enemy forces; however, they have been assured that they will not fight but they will go and see God’s hand destroy the enemy. The combined enemy force begins to do something very strange to each other.

It has been said that God is the only person to let you see your destruction without allowing you to be overwhelmed by that same destruction. Elisha and those around him are surrounded by the Syrian host on every side without a fighting chance but the man of God sees things that others cannot. He trusts in the Mighty Spirit of God to protect him and those around him. Elisha prays that the eyes of those around him are opened and they begin to see the power of The Mighty Spirit. Have you seen the power of the Mighty Spirit in your life? I hope so.

Have you ever had something bad occur in your life that you later learned was the mercy of God? It has been said “Sometimes the blessings of God are not in what He give but what He takes away.” Many people often complain when God removes their comfort blanket. He does it not to be cruel but to teach us and mold our character. In our story, Elisha has been shown kindness by a family that will endure a crisis but actually turns out to be a blessing. Also, there is a King that endures a terrible physical condition but once he encounters the man of God he sees the blessing of God through faith. It is unknown why God allows bad things to happen to good people and good things to occur in the lives of the bad. You can take comfort in knowing that there are hidden blessing to those that trust Him.
