  • Episode 151: The Best Souvenir We Brought Home | Why the Greatest Memories Aren't Found in Gift Shops, They're Created Together

What if the greatest souvenir from your next vacation isn't something you can fit in a suitcase?

On our final full day in Rome, our family skipped another famous attraction and spent the afternoon learning how to make authentic Italian pizza and gelato. We laughed with families from around the world, worked together in a hands-on cooking class, enjoyed the best pizza I've ever tasted, and left with recipes we could bring home.

But somewhere between grinding chocolate with a mortar and pestle, stretching pizza dough, and watching our creations disappear into a 500°C wood-fired oven, I realized something.

    We hadn't paid for lunch.

We had invested in an experience.

    The recipes were wonderful.

    The memories were priceless.

In this episode of Summit After the Storm, discover why the greatest souvenirs aren't the things we buy... they're the moments we create with the people we love.

    • An authentic Italian pizza and gelato cooking class in Rome• Why shared experiences create lasting memories• The leadership lesson hidden in teamwork and participation• A Kilimanjaro connection about the value of the journey• Ecclesiastes 3:13 and God's gift of enjoying life's simple moments

The greatest souvenirs don't collect dust on a shelf... they become part of who you are.

  • Episode 150: The Father's Day That Didn't Go as Planned | A Leadership Lesson About Expectations, Presence, and Trust

I had Father's Day completely planned.

A smooth trip from London to Rome.

    An easy flight.

A relaxing Italian dinner with my family.

    Instead...

    Our buses ran late.

    We nearly missed our flight.

    Immigration took forever.

We struggled to get into our apartment.

And after finally arriving, we discovered... no air conditioning.

    Again.

By the time we sat down for dinner, it was after 11:00 p.m., and we didn't make it back to our apartment until around midnight.

Nothing about the day looked the way I had imagined.

Yet looking back, I realized something I'll never forget.

Sometimes we're so focused on the picture we've created in our minds...

that we miss the blessings God has already placed right in front of us.

In this episode of Summit After the Storm, I share why one of the most stressful travel days of our European adventure became one of the greatest reminders that leadership, faith, and family aren't about perfect plans... they're about being fully present when life doesn't go according to them.

    In this Episode:

    • Nearly missing our flight from London Luton Airport• The stressful return to Rome on Father's Day• Why our Father's Day dinner didn't happen until after 11:00 p.m.
    • The leadership lesson hidden inside unmet expectations
    • How Kilimanjaro taught the same lesson months earlier
    • Proverbs 16:9 and trusting God's plan over our own

Sometimes the day you planned isn't the day you needed.

  • Episode 149: Every Voice Matters | The Powerful Leadership Lesson I Learned Inside British Parliament That Every Leader Needs to Hear

One unexpected lesson inside the British Parliament changed the way I think about leadership forever.

While touring the Palace of Westminster in London, I learned that ordinary citizens can meet with their Member of Parliament to share concerns affecting their community. It didn't matter whether they were wealthy, influential, or unknown.

    They had access.

    They had a voice.

That simple principle became one of the most powerful leadership lessons of my entire European journey.

People don't expect us to solve every problem.

They don't expect us to say "yes" to every request.

But they do hope they'll be heard.

In this episode of Summit After the Storm, I explore why the best leaders don't build walls around themselves... they build doors. Through a lesson from British Parliament, a reminder from Kilimanjaro, and the wisdom of James 1:19, you'll discover how listening builds trust, strengthens teams, and changes lives.

    • The surprising leadership lesson I learned inside British Parliament• Why making people feel heard transforms teams• The Kilimanjaro lesson that reinforced this truth• A biblical perspective on listening before speaking• One question every leader should ask this week

Leadership isn't measured by how many people hear your voice. It's measured by how many people believe their voice matters because of your leadership.

  • Episode 148: I Ordered Ice Cream for Breakfast in London... Everyone Else Regretted Their Choice | Leadership Lesson

What happens when everyone around you makes the exact same decision?

During breakfast in London after attending worship at Westminster Abbey, my entire family ordered the traditional English breakfast.

    I didn't.

Instead, I ordered bread pudding... and when the restaurant ran out of custard, they offered vanilla ice cream.

    For breakfast.

    Everyone laughed.

By the end of the meal, nobody was laughing.

That simple breakfast became a powerful reminder that great leaders don't reject the crowd just to be different. They simply pause long enough to think for themselves.

In this episode of Summit After the Storm, discover why independent thinking, courage, and intentional decision-making matter more than simply following everyone else.

  • Episode 147: We Came to Visit History. God Invited Us to Worship. | The Westminster Abbey Experience That Changed How I See Faith and Leadership

What started as a way to save the cost of six admission tickets became one of the most meaningful experiences of our entire European journey.

On a quiet Saturday morning, our family attended the 7:30 a.m. worship service at Westminster Abbey. Sitting in a small chapel deep inside one of the world's most famous churches, we fumbled through an unfamiliar Order of Worship, laughed as the kids tried to figure out when to stand, sit, and read aloud, and discovered something far more valuable than a guided tour.

Westminster Abbey isn't just where kings are crowned and history is made. It's a place where people have gathered to worship God for nearly a thousand years.

This episode explores why faith was never meant to be observed from a distance, why God invites us to participate instead of spectate, and how the greatest treasures in life often can't be purchased.

You may arrive as a tourist. But God may be inviting you to become part of the story.

    🎙️ In this episode:

    • Why attending a worship service changed our entire Westminster Abbey experience
    • The surprising humor of trying to follow an unfamiliar liturgical service
    • What Westminster Abbey taught me about faith, history, and participation
    • A leadership lesson every Christian and business leader needs to hear

  • Episode 146: "GET OFF THE FENCE!" | The Surprising Leadership Lesson I Learned at Buckingham Palace's Changing of the Guard

A royal motorcade unexpectedly stopped us on The Mall as we walked toward Buckingham Palace. Moments later, we found ourselves standing against the front fence for the Changing of the Guard when a booming voice echoed across the crowd...

    "GET OFF THE FENCE!"

For one unforgettable moment, Amanda and I were convinced the King's Guard was yelling at us.

    He wasn't.

What followed taught me something far deeper than I expected about discipline, leadership, timeless traditions, and how great leaders remain true to their principles while finding new ways to connect with the people they serve.

Join me as we continue our family's journey across Europe and discover another leadership lesson hidden in one of London's most iconic ceremonies.

  • Episode 145: Tower of London, Tower Bridge, and the Strength That Endures | What a Medieval Fortress Taught Me About Life

When I booked tickets to the Tower of London, I imagined we'd be climbing a tall tower for views of the city.

Instead, we found ourselves walking through nearly 1,000 years of history inside one of the world's most famous medieval fortresses.

From the Crown Jewels to the story of William Wallace, from conversations with a Yeoman Warder who actually lives inside the Tower to the walk across Tower Bridge overlooking London's skyline, this day became so much more than sightseeing.

It reminded me that real strength isn't measured by how powerful something appears.

    It's measured by what endures.

In this episode, I share the surprising lesson history taught me about leadership, faith, resilience, and the kind of character that stands firm long after the storms have passed.

  • Episode 144: Platform 9¾ and the Days Between the Destinations | The Unexpected Lessons on Our Journey from Paris to London

Not every day of a journey is filled with famous landmarks.

Sometimes it's security lines, train stations, crowded platforms, hot apartments, and a simple pizza dinner with your family.

On our final day in Paris, we boarded the Eurostar to London. Somewhere between joking about finding Platform 9¾, riding beneath the English Channel, and settling into an apartment with no air conditioning, God reminded me that the most important part of any journey isn't the destination—it's who we're becoming along the way.

Join me as I share why the ordinary days between life's biggest moments often become the ones that shape us the most.

  • Episode 143: We Almost Skipped Disneyland Paris... It Became the Best Day of Our Trip

This title creates curiosity ("Why was it the best day?"), contains a highly searched keyword ("Disneyland Paris"), and promises an emotional payoff.

What if the best day of your vacation wasn't the one you spent months planning?

When our family planned a three-week journey across Europe, Disneyland Paris wasn't on the itinerary. Ancient ruins, historic landmarks, and world-famous museums were.

Then our kids asked one simple question...

    "Can we go to Disneyland?"

    We said yes.

What followed was a day filled with laughter, unforgettable rides, and a breathtaking nighttime spectacular that reminded me of an important truth: sometimes the greatest gifts aren't found on the schedule—they're found in the moments we're willing to embrace.

In this episode, I share why the best leaders don't just manage calendars... they create memories, why unexpected joy is one of God's greatest gifts, and how one unplanned detour became one of our family's favorite moments in Europe.

    Key Takeaways:

    • Why leaving room for spontaneity creates lasting memories.
    • The leadership lesson hidden inside a family vacation.
    • How God's greatest gifts are often found in unexpected moments.
    • Why the best journeys are measured by the people beside you, not just the places you visit.

Scripture: "You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy..." — Psalm 16:11

    Every destination has a story.
    Every story has a lesson.

  • Episode 142: The €9 Eiffel Tower: The Confidence Every Parent, Leader, and Mentor Should Help Build

What if the most valuable lesson from Paris wasn't at the top of the Eiffel Tower... but on the sidewalk beneath it?

As our family returned to the Eiffel Tower for its famous 10 PM light show, Rhys wanted to buy a souvenir. The vendor wanted €15. I handed him just €9 and challenged him to negotiate for it himself.

    The first answer was "no."

What happened next became one of my favorite memories from our entire trip.

In this episode, I share why confidence is built one courageous conversation at a time, why we should never answer "no" before asking the question, and how one small moment in Paris became a lifelong leadership lesson.

    Key Takeaways:
    • Why confidence grows through experience, not protection.
    • The leadership lesson hidden behind every negotiation.
    • Why fear often keeps us from opportunities that are waiting for us.
    • How one €9 souvenir became worth far more than its price.
