Dan Sherfield // The trauma we experience can lead us to make agreements in our hearts. We accept these lies about ourselves in hopes of moving forward, but we need to be brave enough to look back, return to our past and pull these lies up at the roots. Then, and only then, can we move forward in God’s truth and abundant life.

Katie Holland // We all have dependencies, habits that don’t add up to the abundant life we were promised. Life shapes us. Decisions shape us. It takes bravery to be honest with ourselves and take the darkest parts of our lives to God, but the reward is experiencing the freedom he has for us. It’s not all your fault you got here, but it’s up to you if you stay here.

Michael Hinton // We all struggle with something that keeps us from growing closer to Christ and each other—something that prevents us from being the person God has created us to be. There are mindsets and behaviors that could potentially hurt our relationship with God, which will overflow into our relationship with others and even how we treat ourselves. If left unchecked this could lead to a life we were never meant to live.

Grace Veronica // The Old Testament of the Bible can be confusing at times. Reading through detailed explanations of animal sacrifices—who should sacrifice what and when and how many and which kind…it can get pretty tedious. Why does all of that matter to us today?
This week, we will explore how the instructions in the book of Exodus lead us to the exciting connections in the book of Hebrews. We’ll see how the small details in the story of God’s people is setting the stage for something great.

Johnny Outing // Jesus is fully human and fully God, so we know he understands us. He has lived the human experience. Nothing we experience or express shocks him—he has compassion for us.
In Hebrews, we’re introduced to Jesus as the great High Priest. This week, we'll look at what that title really means and how it forever changes our approach to God.

Johnny Outing // In our modern culture, it can seem near impossible or even irresponsible to schedule rest into our busy calendars. God had a plan to bless his people with a sabbath rest, though. That rest is something we still have access to, we can actually bless others by engaging in sabbath rest, and we find the completeness of this rest in the person of Jesus.

Michael Hinton // When trials of faith come our way (…and we know they’ll come), it’s not a reason to return to our old ways or give up and find an easier path. We must remember where our hope comes from—the architect, builder, and sustainer. True hope comes from the creator of all things, who holds all things together.

Michael Hinton // After spending the last six weeks looking at themes that run through the book of Genesis—trees, blessings, atonement, sabbath, and temple—we can now see pretty clearly that the book of Hebrews demonstrates that Jesus is the fulfillment of all of God’s promises to his people. All of these themes have been patterned after Jesus. All of them are meant to point toward Jesus. The gift of Hebrews is reminding us, in the best of seasons and in the hardest of seasons, that God is still faithful. In fact, he has always been faithful. He made a plan to be faithful from the start—(even when he knew we would reject him) he chose to create us still and put into motion a plan for our salvation from the very beginning.

O.J. Aldrich //When we hear the word “Temple,” old dusty religious buildings likely come to mind, but, to God’s people, the temple was a lot more than an old building. Starting at creation, the temple went from manifesting as a garden to an actual construction to Jesus himself, and now God's people can even say our bodies are temples where God’s Holy Spirit dwells.

Kailey Newkirk // With our usual hustle and bustle, “sabbath” can seem too old-fahsioned for our modern lives. God’s prescription of sabbath, though, actually invites a divine rhythm that keeps us coming back to our one true source of life.
