Love you more everyday!
House Fires (part 6)
Numbers 16 [New International Version]
I. Intro: Preach the Gospel of JESUS CHRIST to ourselves everyday!
1. “Demand we cannot meet” (John Piper) “He performed a righteousness for us, imputed to us…providing all the protection”
Matthew 5:48 [New International Version]
Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
2 Corinthians 5:21 [NIV]
God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
2. “Burden we cannot bear” (John Piper) “the wrath of God…the curse…totally absorbed by JESUS” (John Piper)
Romans 3:23 [NIV]
Romans 6:23 [NIV]
Galatians 3:13 [[***New American Standard Bible]
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us-- for it is written, "CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A TREE "--
3. What is the blessing?
a. “The best gift of the Gospel
1. …is not the forgiveness of sins,
2. …is not “the [imputed] righteousness of” JESUS CHRIST
3. …is not eternal life
4. …IS seeing and savoring the supremacy of JESUS! We had no access to that joy until HE took our place!
a. We get mercy, mercy, mercy, everything working together for my good.” (John Piper)

The Voice 2016 Paxton Ingram –Top 11: “Break Every Chain”
Romans 1:16 [NIV]
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.
II. Main Idea: Trusting in the Gospel of JESUS everyday means valuing GOD’s presence over man’s position!
1. What does trusting in the Gospel of JESUS mean?
a. “Who is GOD?” Who is JESUS? What am I in CHRIST? (Idea from HOLY SPIRIT through Dr. Peter Link)
2. What are the warning signs of losing my trust/faith in JESUS?
a. First warning sign of wavering trust in the gospel of JESUS, “flee[ing] from GOD’s leadership! (vv. 1–3)
1. “oppose” (v. 3) = “over” (Strong’s Concordance) “above” (NAS Exhaustive Concordance)
a. I’m “over” it or I’m “above” this! Enough is enough!
2. v. 1 “Peleth” = “flee, swiftness” (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance)
a. “well-known” doesn’t mean all knowing! “famous”(Interlinear)…just because someone is recognized doesn’t mean they are remarkable in GOD’s eyes!
b. It does not matter how many agree with me. Just because many agree GOD is wrong doesn’t make HIM wrong!
c. Opposition doesn’t mean a defeated condition, nor does it mean submission!
b. Second warning sign of wavering trust/faith in the gospel of JESUS, the standard of holiness changes. (vv. 1–3)
1. I can forget my sinful past when I forget who JESUS is and what HE has done!
a. Danger occurs when position is more important than GOD’s presence! I don’t like my role!
b. When I stop trusting in the Gospel of JESUS in my circumstances, I can go “too far!” (v. 7)
c. Third warning sign of wavering trust/faith in the gospel of JESUS, HE is not “enough.” (vv. 8–11)
Numbers 18:7
1. “enough” (v. 9) = “[seems] but a small thing” (Interlinear) = “little…few” (Brown-Driver-Briggs)
a. Parable of the talents
Matthew 25:21
"His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'
III. Application:
a. “Who is GOD?” (Dr. Peter Link)
b. Who is JESUS?
c. Who am I in CHRIST? (Idea from HOLY SPIRIT through Dr. Peter Link)
1. “The only way to bring glory to GOD is for HIM to put me” in a place for HIM! (Dr. Peter Link?
