With the general election behind us, people's reactions and opinions are still on our minds and in our news feeds.

As Christians we are commanded to be subject to the authorities over us. What does that mean for us in today's world?

In the Kingdom of God, there is no King but Jesus, and we are to serve Him first.

Last week we talked about how a Christian's true citizenship is in heaven. However, as Christians in America, we also have a right and a responsibility to stand up for God's values and live for Him. That means that we should study scripture, search our hearts, and vote in a way that we believe can best honor God. There are no perfect candidates. There is no perfect voter. Yet He can use us to bring about His Kingdom.

A Christian's true citizenship is in heaven. That doesn't mean we shouldn't make efforts to be well-informed and active American citizens. What it does mean is that the political and social decisions we make as Christians should be made in light of eternity, furthering God's Kingdom on earth.

In the fourth week of our series on worship, Pastor Dan tackles the "HOW" of worship.

There are so many different ways to express our worship to God--too many to list. Yet the most important thing is that we worship God with our whole heart.

Why do we worship God? Is it because we get so much out of it? Or because the Bible tells us we should? While our answer may be "yes" to these questions, and while we could most likely come up with other reasons, we will learn this week that our worship is a reaction to "who God is and what He has done."

God's character and His actions compel us to either worship Him or reject Him.

In this first week of the new series, Pastor Brad began to reveal a crucial definition of worship. We all worship something, and that's natural. But we get to choose what or who we worship. As followers of Jesus, our worship is a response to what He has done for us.

At Summit, we talk a lot about three things that transform lives and bring God glory: knowing God, loving people, and serving the world.

Serving is faith in action. It is putting God (and others) before ourselves. When our church serves together, it changes us, but it also sparks a much needed change in our world.

Our church's purpose is to "lead people to follow Christ." That implies that a natural progression or journey of faith. While everyone's journey is unique, we all have a next step to take.

Everyone has a basic need for meaningful relationships. That's simply part of being human. Community shapes us, strengthens us and sharpens us, and it is through these relationships that we soon discover that life was never meant to be lived alone--life is better together.
