Jamey Nettles | God loves each of us intimately and personally. This is true, but we must understand why God's love for us is rooted not in our worthiness to be loved, rather in the worthiness of His name. Why is this good news for the follower of Jesus? And how does this lead us to spread the glory of Christ and His Kingdom more fully in all of life?

Jamey Nettles | As we wrap up the letter of James, we are encouraged to press into community, a means of grace God has given to us for our sanctification. Through the fellowship of the saints, we are encouraged to remain faithful through trial, constant through suffering, and to find grace in the midst of our sin. May we be brothers and sisters who point each other to the true big brother, Jesus, who perfectly keeps us until the day of the Lord.

And for those that choose to trust in themselves, sin leads to more and more evil, as the power of their wealth and self-reliance is abused on the backs of those in poverty. But for all who would look to the cross, there is hope in the steadfast love of the Lord, for it is in Him alone that we find our value, dignity, and worth.

The foolish man is led by his passions and wrong desires that lead to wrong and selfish actions. God loves us too much to allow us to hold back some of our hearts to give to the world instead of Him. But for those that seek Him, there is much grace to be found. The man who God opposes, the proud man, is the man who thinks he does not need God anyways.

If we seemingly praise Jesus one moment, then proceed to belittle and demean others with our next breath, we show ourselves to be guided by the ways of this age, not the ways of the Kingdom. Our “praise” is also shown to be empty and void. May we be a people who speak life and blessing into the world around us, showing ourselves to be true sons of God the Father.

We must be reminded that everyone we come into contact with is an image bearer of God who deserves dignity and respect, and to make distinctions among ourselves is the antitheses of God’s rule and reign.
