Summit Sermons

Christmas…many of us love the sights, the sounds, the tastes, the smells, and of course…the movies! Elves in tights, flying reindeer, clinking chains, Santa Claus in a parade, and even that boy who was home alone, make us laugh and cry this season. You know, how the elf was home alone on a foggy Christmas Eve helping an angel get his wings–you’ve seen that one, right?! It’s time to hop in your one-horse open sleigh and join us this Advent as we discover the true meaning of Christmas, starring a baby born in Bethlehem that will fill our hearts with smiles.

It seems that like everyone has something to say about how we should manage our money: experts, analysts, people writing articles, blogs, or podcasts. We are instructed to build a budget, pay down debt, save more, spend less, diversity investments, start now, and always be thinking about requirement. With all the voices clamoring at us, whose advice do we take to heart? Do you ever wonder what Jesus would have to say? Join us as we look to the wisdom and teachings of the Bible to find encouragement about our financial future.

The mission of Summit Church is to Love God, Love Others, and Share the Good News, which is taken directly from Matthew’s gospel. In this 5-week sermon series, we will explore the mission of the church according to Jesus in the great commandment (Matthew 22:37-40) and the great commission (Mathew 28:18-20).

Join us as we discern together what it looks like when we all take an active role in living out our mission in our daily lives, and how that will impact our community in a positive way. Our mission is indeed possible, but only when all of us find our place to get engaged in living out that mission as individuals and as a church community. We invite you to join us on this journey to discover our Mission: Possible!

We can think that our giftedness, our personality type, our job title, or our identity as a spouse or a parent somehow defines us. We might think our woundedness is the truest thing about us. But in reality, it is our desire and our capacity to reach for God that is the deepest essence of who we are. We cry out to God for meaning and purpose that is more than running a race to win medals. Running the spiritual race is about connecting deeply to God, others, and ourselves. Just like the world prepares for the Olympic trials, join us in worship as we prepare to run the most important race of all, the one that leads us closer to God and who we are meant to be as God’s children.
