The scripture says that we have died with Christ and that we also now live with him. In today’s passage it says, “reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” That is one of the most important parts about having a victorious Christian life, knowing that you are dead to sin. It isn’t that you will be, or hopefully in time; but the moment you gave you heart to Jesus you became dead to the power of sin. Remember that sin is not your master anymore, especially in those times of temptation.

“Tribulation produces perseverance, and perseverance, character; and character hope.” That is a quote from today’s passage, and we will see it in great detail. But so many of have a problem with that first part, tribulation. We don’t like words related to it either, trial, difficulty, hardship. That is normal, but as Christians God wans to change our perspective. We can have joy and hope in the midst of any situation because, as we will see in today’s passage, the end result is a stronger hope. We must go through struggle to arrive at hope.
