Why is it important to understand this as we approach the holiday season? Why might kindness be the difference between the best celebration you’ve ever had, or the worst? What can we learn about kindness during the holiday season that we should apply to our daily lives? We’re going to unpack all of these things this morning.

For some of us, it’s not the “happiest time of the year.” The increased social time in celebration of the holidays can lead to stress, burnout, and triggers - especially in a post COVID-19 world. But, with some preparation, new conversations and ideas, you can rest assured that this holiday season is one filled with joy and rest.

Today we talk about the difference between fantastical happiness, and realistic happiness as well as the importance of self forgiveness, inner-critical thinking and intrusive thoughts. With mental health and the pressures of today it's so important to recognize the powerful, and inconsistent emotions around joy to be a little more present. We also touch on some holiday anxieties as we enter into the coming season!

Today we dive into the Word to understand how God uses unlikely people and characteristics in pursuit of His good. When we have mental health struggles, feeling purposeful or worthy can be hard to accept, but with Christ we are ensured purpose. Ultimately, not letting uncertainty and intrusive thoughts not overpower your life. Understanding the meaning of our purposes, and exercising the habit of leaning into Christ and the universal community around you to provide relief with anxiety and fear.

I can’t wait to grow our friendship together, which friends, is the topic of today’s episode! Planting, and all things emotional growth. Today we dig into analogies on intrusive thoughts, negative thought patterns, emotional mind decluttering, love and (of course) God!

Welcome to Episode 1, you guys, I am like jumping up and down right now, I’ve been so excited to record this first moment and capture what I really think will be the start of such a great, heartwarming friendship and conversation. I wanted to start by sharing my story and testimony so we can begin to build an authentic friendship and dialogue around mental health, coming to the Christian faith and the light that is inside of all of us. 

Sarah McKinnon, is an overly honest, energetic and very anxious twenty-something girl who left behind the lights of New York City for a small community to find faith as a New Believer in Christanity and the real matters of day to day life. Oh, and one big thing - some peace. Sarah transparently discusses what she’s learned from a lifelong battle of mental health from anxiety, multiple forms of Obessive Compulsive Disorder, depression and life in recovery of being a suicide survivor. Join Sarah in her little sunny corner of the world to chat about all things mental health, creativity and to learn more about the Word of God. Sarah believes that regardless of the path you’ve walked, there is a bright light in all of us that can’t be hidden.
