Does a Christian have the freedom to stand up for what they want or need in a work environment, family situations, or any other place where unreasonable demands are placed on them? Are we compromising our testimony by “putting people in their place” or perhaps pushing them further from the kingdom of God? Many times we are taught that to stand up for what we need or want in the work environment (and other places) is selfish and not what God wants us to do, nor what the word teaches us. Is this right?

There are a few examples of this in the word of God and that is always our best place to look in order to understand how we are to walk out our faith in a lost world. One in particular we will be looking at has someone who was hated by those he worked around, and who did unreasonable things to him. In this case the believer gave in to their demands. How was his testimony to those unsaved around him? Was there a better way? How can we know if he did it the right way?
