  • Holy Spirit - Promise
Bret continues our series on the Holy Spirit. Paul describes the Holy Spirit in 2 Corinthians chapter 1 as a deposit, a "promise"...
Paul is writing to restore his relationship to the Corinthians. Paul is not wealthy, apparently not a great public speaker, doesn’t come with all the thrills, so the Corinthians are discrediting his message based on these superficial things. Paul believed that failure to achieve this reconciliation would endanger the very Christian identity of the Corinthian church. What the church in Corinth has begun to see as weakness is what Paul views as his strength in Christ.
So Paul makes this bold yet concise statement in the 1st chapter:
Christ set his SEAL of ownership on us, put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit... a promise!

  • Holy Spirit - Power
Bret continues our series on the Holy Spirit looking at the power of God's Spirit in the life of the believer. The empowerment of the Spirit transforms our wills, our desires and our character over time into that of Jesus. Through the power of the spirit it’s possible to make changes and it’s possible to live differently (one of our next steps). Through the Spirit I don’t desire the same things I did earlier in my life. The empowerment of the Spirit enables us to do things beyond ourselves in the name of Jesus. The result is that those we serve are edified and God is glorified

  • Holy Spirit - Presence
Bret launches a brand new series on the Holy Spirit. Your Bible makes more than a hundred references to the Holy Spirit. Jesus says more about the Spirit than he does about the church, marriage, finances, and even the future.
Have you ever thought about the amazingly, seemingly impossible story of the church?
How in one generation did a rag-tag group of peasants (male and female), fishermen and a tax collector change the course of history?
They did not have educational resources …They did not have political resources
No status, no power, they didn’t even have big financial donors. No tik-tok, no face-scrolls, no JCministries.com, no tech arts team.
Yet they changed the world, not because of what they didn’t have... they changed the world because of what they did have … The Holy Spirit.
Today Bret discusses the presence of the Holy Spirit.
