Jesus is our peace. He is king and will rule with wisdom, righteousness, and justice. The kingdoms of this world cannot offer real peace. Only Jesus can.

Jesus is our hope. Salvation and new life is found only in him. Therefore, we should treat the hope like a guaranteed promise, rejecting our old way of life and living for Christ.

As children dearly loved by God our Father, we are called to be people of prayer. We should pray with confidence, according to his will, for our brothers and sisters in Christ, and against the power of sin and the enemy

Faith in Christ and love for him is demonstrated through our obedience to him. Obedience is not meant to be a burden, and we share in Christ’s victory over the world.

God is love, which he demonstrates to us by sending Jesus to redeem us, loving us first (while we were still sinners), and giving us his Holy Spirit. The right response to God’s love is to love others like he loves us and to live like Jesus.

It is important for Christians to be able to distinguish between false and faithful teachers. Spiritual discernment litmus test: does the teaching glorify Jesus as Lord or something else? Does it have a godly or worldly perspective?

Loving others like Christ loves us isn’t always easy. It involves responding to hate with love, it requires sacrifice, and to love through our actions, not just our words.

God pours out his love for us in Christ and makes us his children. In response to this great love, God’s children should: remain in him with confidence and boldness (even if the world rejects us), turn away from sin (Jesus breaks the power that sin had in our lives), do what is right (love your neighbor).

False teachers (anti-christs) will come and attempt to lead people astray. Keys to faithful obedience include: acknowledging Jesus Christ as Lord, allowing the Holy Spirit to guide you in the truth, remain in Christ and his word. People often attempt to find joy/fulfillment in what is counterfeit and temporary. Only a relationship with God through the Holy Spirit will bring real joy.

Put God first. Set aside worldly desires and temptations. They are temporary, but God and his love are eternal.
