Restoration is at the heart of God's love, and He invites us to be part of it through the gifts of the Holy Spirit. When someone is trapped in sin, our role is to restore them gently, as God does with us. Sin brings its own consequences, but God doesn’t add to our guilt. The enemy tries to deceive us into believing that God condemns us like he does, but God's approach is always gentle. We're called to carry each other’s burdens and restore others in humility, without judgment. Jesus invites us to trust Him for rest, as He carries both our sin and our restoration.

In Galatians 5, Paul reminds us that our identity in Christ is received, not earned, and true freedom comes from surrendering control to God. When we try to manage everything ourselves, it leads to harmful behaviors and divisions. In contrast, living by the Spirit fills us with God’s transformative qualities—bringing a sense of peace, joy, patience, and a heart inclined towards goodness and kindness. These are not things we can achieve through effort but are gifts from God that flow naturally when we trust and surrender to Him. By letting go of our need for control, we allow God’s love to shape us and flow through us, guiding our lives in a more fulfilling way.

I curse myself when I strive for perfection apart from God, judging others for the same shortcomings I possess and seeking fulfillment in things that don't satisfy. I can't manufacture lasting joy, love, hope, security, or significance, nor can I sustain the perfection required in work, relationships, or within my own soul. Trying to be my own god only leads to pride, anger, and exhaustion. We have two choices: trust Jesus to be God and let Him judge us, or trust ourselves and face inevitable failure. Jesus judges us guilty but bears the punishment Himself, taking on the curse so we can be free. His overwhelming love means He endures the pain and death we deserve. In Him, our curse is lifted, revealing that we are more broken than we admit and more loved than we dare to hope.

We all go through pain and sometimes it’s easier to withdraw from everyone, including Jesus, and go back to the simplicity of following rules. Jesus is with you, even then. He’s claimed you and is not mad at you for being hurt. He has so much compassion for you. And with Him, the lies you reject will be the bricks you tear down so you can let in all the love and all the life you desperately need. Trust Jesus and His overwhelming love for you, one moment at a time.
