Dad’s and moms, grandpas and grandmas, teachers, coaches, authors, and even pastors are spiritual leaders... Who has been a spiritual leader in your life? What good has come from their lives? Do you follow their example of their faith? And are you a leader for God? Is there anyone out there whose soul is better today because of you?

Do you have a good relationship with your Heavenly Father? Does He still need to discipline you a lot? Or have you learned what it means to be thankful in all circumstances, and now know how to worship Him with both holy fear and awe? God, our Father, is developing us as children, because He knows the world is watching us, and so is heaven.

In this chapter, our author provides a picture of what faith is, and then gives numerous examples of the actions of people known for having faith. Therefore, we can assume our author agreed with James, in that faith is useless unless it’s demonstrated through actions…

If you had everything taken from you, could you accept it with joy? That’s what was happening to many Christians, but they knew there were better things waiting for them that will last forever, so they accepted it with joy. To live like this, we are going to need to be spiritually fruity, but developing fruit takes a bit of work.

When God stated He would forgive our wickedness and never remember our sins, those are terms associated with the new covenant made by Jesus, not Moses... So a question we should all ask ourselves is, what are the terms of the new covenant when it comes to forgiveness?

Because of who Jesus is and what Jesus did, He is the perfect High Priest. Therefore, we can enjoy a relationship with God filled with boldness! Are you bold? Do you you represent God boldly and do you approach Him boldly? If not, why not?

It is imperative to know the basic teachings of Jesus. For as the author of Hebrews states, those who fail to grasp them are prone to drifting and could even fall away to a point where repentance is no longer possible. As a result, we should not only grasp them, we should be able to teach them to others…

Childish and impulsive thinking, combined with a lack of self discipline, will keep all of us spiritually immature and dull. However, when we listen carefully to Jesus’ teachings, and prayerfully determine the differences between right and wrong, and then choose to do the right things, that’s what makes us grow to maturity, and much more capable of grasping more than just the basic things.

Gods rest, or heaven, is available to us, but the author of Hebrews warns us that a lack of faith, similar to what the Israelites displayed, will prevent us from ever entering Gods rest. Therefore, all that Christ has done for us as a High Priest will be in vain.
