This Sunday we're covering the name Jehovah-Rapha, which means “the Lord who Heals you”.

Nick Pelletier, an Emergency Room Nurse, to speak to everyone on Sunday about this subject. Nick has been a part of FC for many years and has traveled to Guatemala with our Missions Team multiple times, and on those trips I have seen him display both his medical and biblical knowledge in a variety of ways.

This makes him the perfect person to talk about the way Jehovah-Rapha heals us.

We cannot box God up, like with the Ark of God, and indiscriminately wield His power. Nor should we ask Jesus to use His power to accomplish our plans.  

However, if we are willing to be used for His plans, God will empower us in every way necessary to get the job done.

John encouraged us to make “Big-ask-prayers” of Jehovah-Jireh, or Jesus, as we follow His “Mountain plan” (1 John 5:13–15). Unfortunately though, many misinterpret John, and end up making requests of God like they would have Santa Claus.

Is your constant attention or thoughts on God, Most High, or on His will for your life? Or is your attention and thoughts on something else?

How about this, are God’s thoughts about you, precious to you? Or do you realize why He thinks about you constantly? The Father loves you and has great plans for you, but Satan will try to blind you or distract you from thinking about these truths. Which means, we must be careful about what dominates our thoughts!

How can we figuratively fly the flag of Jesus, or figuratively hold up a really cool staff to display our allegiance to His leadership?

One of the ways we’re told to do this, is by honoring those God puts in leadership (Romans 13:1–7) So a good question to ask ourselves is, do people see us flying our political flags, or do they see us acting respectfully? 

God can’t use self-righteous people for holy things. It’s not that He doesn’t want to, but when a person believes their sanctification and righteousness comes from their knowledge of a set of “rules” and their own efforts to obey them (like what the Pharisees thought and taught) they become useless to God.

Are you righteous? If so, how would you explain to someone else what makes you righteous? And what about your life would indicate to God that you want to be used by Him for Holy use?

Do we as modern day Christians act selfishly in pursuit of our plan, like what Abraham and Sarah did, and in so doing, make others view us or God in a terrible way? The answer; Yes! But again, this is why we have the story of Hagar.

Our faith in Jesus (God Almighty) should lead all of us to trust in Him in demonstrative ways. That was one of the primary points James, the brother Jesus, made to the church.

Moses wanted everyone to know that Elohim, the masculine plural God who created all things and sustains all things, is named Yahweh, and that He eternally exists. And more than anything else, Moses wanted everyone to know that God made all things just to enjoy a relationship with those created in His image. And when you read the Bible through, it’s clear that Jesus is indeed our Elohim and Yahweh, and that He still wants to enjoy a relationship with us.
