Our movies reviews this week consist of the following:
Zola - An A24 movie filmed here locally in our backyard of Tampa Bay. Based off of a true story that originally started as a twitter thread. About a woman from detroit who comes down to florida for a weekend of quick money stripping, which then turns into a weekend filled with prostitution, pimps, and kidnapping!
Spencer - Kristin Stewart stars as Princess Diana at a controversial point in her marriage into the royal family. A weekend at a Christmas event with the Queen and the surrounding family as Diana struggles with the pressures of the outside world, the judgment of the staff, and her own psychological issues.
Belfast - A movie set in late 60’s Ireland bring the riots surrounding the protestant x catholic residents in a borough in Belfast. Mainly centered around a young child as he tries to grasp the situation unfolding around him.
The Holiday - A 2006 film starring Jude Law, Cameron Diaz, Jack Black, and Kate Winslet. What happens when two women get their heart broken on the week of Christmas? Of course, a spontaneous house swapping! Cameron Diaz who is an emotionally stunted film producer who finds out her boyfriend has been cheating on her, reaches out to a posting online about a cottage rental in the country side of England. A cottage owned by Kate Winslet, who just found to the person she has loved for 5 years is now getting married. They decide to switch homes for the holiday which brings them to find the true love they have been looking for all along.
Voices - Ryan Reynolds stars in this gripping psychological comedy where his character, Jerry, hears voices, mainly from his dog and his cat. After a night out after being stood up by his office crush, things turn south as a run in with her ends up being a little bit bloodier than expected! What happens when a man who is already having a hard time separating the real world from his voice filled paradise?
