  • Families of youth crime victims calls for tougher laws

Families who've suffered heartbreak due to the actions of young offenders are begging the Queensland government to adopt tougher legislation. The proposed "Vyleen's Law" named after 70-year-old grandmother Vyleen White would make the punishments for youth crime similar to those for adults. The campaign follows the success of "Jack's Law", which allows police to use metal-detecting wands in certain areas. It's led to the seizure of more than 500 weapons in the year since it was introduced.

For more, the head of the Queensland Police Youth Crime Taskforce Andrew Massingham joins.
