  • PREMIERE: apaj - Ghosts [down.]
We are delighted to support new talent apaj and equally happy to support our first premiere with the label down. ! A perfect combination to start off our week!
    Track Info:
We are very happy to present you the debut EP from the french producer @apaj_duc. His way of understanding downtempo has cast a spell on us right from the start and stands for exactly the kind of music we want to express on our label. His sound comes simple, yet refined, dreamy, but direct and makes you want to dive deeper into slow music. The 5 original tracks convince with subtle textures and a danceable character.
We are very excited to see where his journey will go to and wish him all the best for the future.
As always a big thanks to @haunted_water for the mastering and Kilian Van de Water for the artwork magic.

The Scumfrog on his new song Tiny Little Human: “"Sure, my quarantine is very comfortable and spacious, but it does evoke thoughts and emotions that I see resonate around me. It addresses how much I have taken for granted the value of basic touch in my daily life. I sense that many people around me are struggling with the sudden absence of human touch. I hope we can remember this frustration when it is once again ok to mingle, and to appreciate the value of a basic hug. We, as humans, made it to the top of the food chain. We essentially 'won earth', but what is that worth if we cannot touch each other?"
The remixes on this stellar package come from Australian production outfit The Oddness (delivering two funky downtempo mixes), U.S. producer Pezzner with a stripped-down haunting mix, and the emerging art collective Voodoo Porn Space Disco delivering a chugging feel-good House anthem.
The video of the song is currently in post-production, and consist of a fan-sourced collection of ‘Legotography’, where the assignment was to photograph a single Lego minifigure in a real-world setting depicting isolation and quarantine. The video is edited together by legendary film and video editor Bob Jenkis (Michael Jackson, Madonna, Chris Isaak)
This video shows the process of the award-winning Electronic Music producer/songwriter/DJ writing and recording the song. Certain elements in this video may have been exaggerated, sensationalized, fictionalized, or all together made up. musicmaven.io/thescumfrog/latest…cl9F7kWtOzYkaCmOSw

  • Sunset Grooves Podcast #183 - Sadhu Sensi
    SC: @sadhu-sensi
    FB: https://www.facebook.com/sadhusensi
    Website: http://www.sadhusensi.com/
Sadhu Sensi is one of our all time favorite producers and therefore to have him put together a mix full of his own productions and edits is an absolute honor. From the first music note in this mix until the last you musical ears will be hooked!
    Interview with Sadhu Sensi
    ************************
➢ I hope you agree to answer a few random and fun questions to share with our listeners?
    • For sure!! Haha
➢ To start you off tell us what song puts you in a good mood when you wake up in the morning?
    • Marvin Gaye - Sexual Healing ;)
➢ What is the meaning behind your artist name Sadhu Sensi?
    • Many years ago I used to play keyboards in a reggae band. I was given the stage name Sergeant Sensi due to the copious amounts of cannabis I used to grow and freely distribute at shows. When I started producing my own music and became interested in eastern spirituality I changed the name to Sadhu (Indian holy man) Sensi.
➢ Now should you ever, but let’s hope not, be stuck on an island, which music album would you bring with you and why?
    • Probably something from Krishna Das so I could sing and chant along and be happy :)
➢ 2020 has been a difficult year for the music scene, how has it changed within your hometown and what do you think will be different in the future?
    • Well it's certainly shut down what little scene we had here. I think the future will be smaller events, which not necessarily a bad thing because the people there would really appreciate the music and not take it for granted.
➢ Once things have returned to a certain normality, which festival would you want to go to first? (It could be a club if you got no festival in mind)
    • Would love to return to Boom festival (Portugal) and play there again as it was one of the best experiences of my life. Also in South Africa really looking forward to Spirit Fest, Afrikaburn, and Retreat Yourself.. some of my favorite here.
➢ Lastly, regarding this mix you have done for us, can you tell us a little bit of your thought process behind choosing the tracks you chose?
    • Well the basic idea was to gather all my latest tracks and remixes and work them into a set moving from slowest to fastest BPM

  • PREMIERE: Jackie Komutatsu - The Greater Good (Original Mix) [Wildfang Music]
A huge groovy EP from Jackie and we had a particular love for the original mix The Greater Good. One that will get the dancefloor moving!
    Track Info:
    WFM | 031 | Jackie Komutatsu | The Greater Good | EP
    Label: Wildfang Music
    Artist: Jackie Komutatsu
    Cat. No.: WFM031
    Mastering: Robert Trifunovic
    Release Date: 05.10.2020
    ENG:
As a top-class newcomer to Wildfang Music, Jackie Komutatsu seals his debut with a highly professional performance in terms of functionality, quality and creativity. With his 3 track EP he really hits the dance floor with a big portion of groove and mood.
The title song is so good, it is available in two versions. In the original you already get everything you need. Diversified and well structured he serves up a fast-paced art piece, consisting of rolling funky house basslines, perfectly placed melodic interludes as well as unexpected elements and vocals that create a perfect harmony.
The extended version is basically the same, but with additional synthy melody parts, more playful and emotional.
Backfire, on the other hand, is the somewhat gloomy number, uncompromising and direct. Subtle but deep the bass rolls, minimalistic but effective in its construction, with alternating powerful lead thunderstorms and constantly fluttering tension.
    GER:
Im Original bekommt man bereits alles was man benötigt.

  • Sunset Grooves Podcast #182 - Errant
    SC: @errant-official
    IG: https://www.instagram.com/officialerrant/
Up next we have the Barcelona based duo Errant who have a wicked sense of taste in music! Their different backgrounds has helped establish their own unique sound and they have provided us with a mix full of awesome deep groovy house vibes. Perfect to kick start your weekend!
    Interview with Errant
    *******************
    Good morning Errant 😊
I hope you agree to answer a few random and fun questions to share with our listeners?
No worries, it'd be a pleasure.
    1. To start you off tell us what song puts you in a good mood when you wake up in the morning?
We don't really have a must listen song for mornings, what we do is we normally wake up and start the day with a nice play list from our favorite artists such as Rufus du sol, black coffee, kerala dust and we are all in a sudden in a very good mood 😊
    2. How did your duo come together? What was the key to starting Errant?
Errant emerged with the lockdown in Barcelona. Before that, we were just two friends with a deep passion for music, we used to play in our spare time but nothing more than that. Isolation gave us the opportunity to join and combine ideas and the new project started.
    3. Now should you ever, but let’s hope not, be stuck on an island, which music album would you bring with you and why?
We already had enough from 2020 with being stuck at home so let's hope we won't be stuck on an island for a very long time 😂 anyway what can't be left home during our isolation on the island is without any doubt nevermind from nirvana, Joshua tree from u2, violator from Depeche mode and life after death from notorious big.
    4. 2020 has been a difficult year for the music scene, how has it changed within your hometown and what do you think will be different in the future?
Future is all about technology, so, from the music industry point of view, that means more live streaming. And that is pretty much what has been happening everywhere around the globe since lockdown started. Barcelona is where we live, and it was no exception.
    5. If you could open a show for any artist, who would it be and why?
We'd very pleased to open a show for Bedouin or Keinemusik crew as we take much than just inspiration from them.
    6. Lastly, regarding this mix you have done for us, can you tell us a little bit of your thought process behind choosing the tracks you chose?
We imagined we were hanging out on a nice rooftop, sipping on a fresh drink enjoying the sunset and we wondered what music would have been a great match to the situation, and everything else just fell into place.
We wanted to kick off with a rhythmic session leaded by a deep, psychedelic sound (tracks like "white rabbit" or the pink Floyd remix) and then switch to a fresher vibe.
We gave a lot of importance to the tempo so that the listeners could be transported to the same location as we thought we were at.
Thank you for the wicked mix!

We have the wonderful Don Mescal, who has been djing for more than 20 years, with his musical diversity, energy & love, he will blend a mix of traditional world music with a modern perspective to brew an electronic-music-elixir with that extra drop of mescal flavor.
Co-founder of the lovely @cosmovisionrecords, a new music label and collective created by a mix of immigrants from Latin America, Europe and locals from Canada, based in Montréal, believing in the value of different cultures, art and the universe itself.
    Interview with Don
    *****************
    1. To start you off tell us what song puts you in a good mood when you wake up in the morning?
For the last 6 months, I was living in the woods, so I was not listening to music but more in a contemplative, meditative vibe listening to nature. When I do play music in the morning any Nina Simone or old reggae always helps start the day. A suggestion to give you energy with your coffee: Mike Pedicin - Burnt Toast & Black Coffee
    2. Now should you ever, but let’s hope not, be stuck on an island, which music album would you bring with you and why?
Any album from the Abyssians or Toots & The Maytals will do the job, I'm a big fan of Reggae music, it gives me smiles, tears and happiness. I'm a easy chill relax dude and a weed lover...
    4. Moving on to serious issues, what is your favourite cocktail to drink during a sunset?
Mezcal off course! Mexico is one of my favorite countries. I always bring back amazing mezcal from there but here in Canada it's impossible to find the same quality and the price is just ridiculous.
    5. Once the global pandemic is over, which festival would be the one you would go to first and why? (it could be a club, if you got no festival in mind)
This year I had my ticket to go to Burning Man (not a festival by the way) and Boom Festival in Portugal. I've been a few times to the Burn and it's always an amazing feeling to come back to the playa. I never been to Boom festival and I was really curious to see it from my eyes. FUSION festival is also on top of my list.
    6. Which artist/band do you secretly love but you are embarrassed to admit? (i.e. you have been to their concert, you know the lyrics.
Hum, I think I will pick Baby One More Time from Britney. When I start to go to Club, it was a big hit at this time and I have always fun listening this song, it brings me back some cool memories.
    7. If you could open a show for any artist, who would it be and why?
I would love to open for El Buho, Im big fan of his music, his work, his label Shika Shika with Barrio Lindo. Their label is a big inspiration for Cosmovision Records. Please support this project and listen to the beautiful VA https://shikashika.bandcamp.com/album/a-guide-to-the-birdsong-of-mexico-central-america-the-caribbean
    8. Lastly, regarding this mix you have done for us, can you tell us a little bit of your thought process behind choosing the tracks you chose?
For me every time I create a mix for a podcast or for dj set, I always take time to pick the first song and the last song of the mix, they are the most important songs in a mix in my mind. So, when I listen the new album from The Architect, the song '' Une plage sur la lune '' was the best soundtrack to start the mix. Anyway for me the best sunset are when you are in a beach, feet in the sand and a breeze in the air. I try to give this mix a playa vibe. I recorded this mix live when I was playing for a small gathering with friends in front of Bliss Lake in The Laurentides (Quebec). The picture in the mix is the view I have from the dj decks. Then, for the rest of the songs I pick some fresh release from Hajna, Hesselberg, Wanduta, Random Rab, Jacob Groening, Arutani.. I add as well a new unreleased song from J.Pool remixed by Moontide (coming soon on Cosmovision) and some edits. I love to play some classics revisited.
