Conclusion and Listener Questions
Voting for younger generations comes down to the most appealing social media clips. The days of watching hours of cable news commentaries, listening to hour long podcasts, and reading articles are long gone. The best political consultants recognize the power of short social media clips. They are performative, impactful and intentionally devoid of ideas and thought. For generations raised on frenetic phone scrolling, short clips can persuade and inform their voting habits more than books, magazines or podcasts. We live in the absence of thought, now think about that!

This episode explores the influence of socialism versus capitalism, and the upcoming elections' impact on America's future. Affordability is the recurring theme in today's political discourse, resonating particularly with younger voters. As they tune into the upcoming elections, they hear one party emphasizing daily necessities while the other focuses on border control and military success. The narrative around socialism—"universal health care for all, tax the rich until they're no longer rich"—has a powerful impact, especially among those unfamiliar with its historical context. Younger voters are gravitating towards relatable figures, often those who seem to understand their struggles. This can create a disconnect when established politicians, who may be millionaires themselves, claim to empathize with those struggling to pay rent. The paradox of socialism is highlighted: while leaders may advocate for equality, they often maintain their wealth and status.

In this episode we explore the ongoing debates and controversies in the WNBA. Yhe WNBA is captivating audiences with its own set of controversies. This season, Caitlin Clark has faced relentless aggression on the court, sparking discussions about the treatment of star players in the league. Her exceptional skills have put her in the spotlight, but that attention has also drawn hostility from opponents. The underlying issue at play? The heated conversation around transgenderism in sports.
Gender Fluidity and the Debate
As conversations around gender fluidity gain traction, we find ourselves in a complex situation. The notion of how gender identity intersects with sports eligibility raises many questions. "What should mean something to you is how you feel about it," notes JJ, highlighting the importance of personal viewpoints in this discussion.
The Ejection Incident
Enos Cantor Freedom recently stirred the pot by declaring for the 2027 WNBA draft, a move that many see as a political statement rather than a legitimate sports career choice. His ejection from a WNBA game after a dispute with a player has only intensified the dialogue. It begs the question: what does this mean for the integrity of the league?
Player Safety and League Dynamics
As the WNBA grapples with these issues, we’re witnessing a concerning rise in on-court violence. JJ points out that the level of aggression is reminiscent of the fierce 1980s basketball rivalries. This raises important questions about player safety and the league's direction: "Is the WNBA going to fizzle out, losing sponsorships and talent?"
The Political Divide
The ongoing debate about transgender individuals participating in women's sports has become increasingly politicized. JJ argues that this issue has become a battleground for differing political ideologies, suggesting that when biology is politicized, we may have crossed a line. The hope remains for constructive dialogue and a reduction in violence surrounding these topics.
Reflecting on these complexities, it's clear that the WNBA is at a crossroads. As discussions continue, the outcomes will shape the future of women's sports and the conversations around gender identity. To dive deeper into this topic and hear more insights, be sure to check out the full episode!

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg published a 6,500-word AI essay titled "The Future is for Everyone" espousing his vision for artificial intelligence and superintelligence. Zuckerberg envisions everyone having a 24/7 personal AI agent that helps with daily tasks, health, and careers. He predicts AI will not cause mass unemployment. The essay is completely misleading in every way and is nebulous. Unemployment is almost certain to result. The destruction of individuality and humanity as we know it are on a precipice because of a handful of corporations controlling everything from AI data centers. Stealing people's ideas and re-circulating them used to be called theft.

Welcome to Super Intelligence Politics with Jonathan Jacobs. AI is changing politics, business, jobs, national security and potentially the future of humanity. Weekend Politics explores what…
Artificial intelligence is increasingly at the center of that conversation. Who should control AI? Will it eliminate millions of jobs? Does America need to win the AI race against China? Should governments regulate artificial superintelligence? Are massive AI data centers worth their economic and environmental costs? And could AI eventually become more intelligent than the humans who created it?
Weekend Politics explores the promise, politics, power and potential dangers of artificial intelligence without assuming that AI is either humanity's salvation or its destruction.
Our show also tackles the major political, economic and cultural stories shaping the country, examining competing arguments rather than simply repeating the talking points of the left or right.
AI. Politics. Power. The future is being decided now.
New episodes of AI, Power & Politics with Jonathan Jacobs are Available each week.
